Cheating on an examination is usually treated as a major offense in the world. I think it is a low blow. If you try to cheat, you are lying to yourself. Also, you will not be able to learn anything from cheating. I believe students who try to cheat on an exam should receive more strict punishments.

Definition: infringing rules that people should obey by trick

This was sort of an interesting story. I was sent to take a photo of a "red hand" for a dimensions article in The Chronicle on cheating. On the way to the art room for some red paint I had an idea and decided to go with it. Unfortunately the editors just wanted a picture of a red hand print. I liked it, so I kept it.

If you don't have time to make your own, ketchup can actually be purchased ready made from some of the better grocery stores. What will they think of next?

This is the raw extract. of Ariadne, my boat based in UK. It takes quite a lot of proctice to get a good extract, and no doubt I will get better at it.

Unfortunately, I have not found a way of getting Flickr to support transparency.

I almost felt like I was cheating with this one, going back to using double exposure. I really wanted to play with the texture of tin foil, though, and use it in a way that made it stand out. For the first photo, I had my sister lie down on my impromptu studio (black dress shirt on a couch in a well-lit room). Then, for the second, I just tried to fill the frame with crumpled foil that I had used for another photo.

I put the two photos together in photoshop and after playing with levels and saturation, I switched the blending mode to multiply. I also used a selective adjustment layer with curves to eliminate my sister's hair because I found it distracting.

I'm pretty happy with the end product. I think it shows how textured metal can play with light to add another dimension to a photo.

Let's be honest, though, this is the best way to haul all your crap into these cabins

I'm planning on just using my Nikon D40 as a light meter, more or less, and then using the chart on the back of the camera to figure out how long I need to expose the film for. Normaly sunny day exposure seems to be about 3-5 seconds, overcast around 20-25 seconds. I want to see if I can get any night photography pics with this be basically just leaving the shutter open all night. Could be cool! Could suck really bad! Who knows? Good thing I'm taking about 4 metric tons of film to try this out!

Back on the mat! :-)
