Ravensburger 'Gala Puzzle'
625 5 801
c 1972
2000 pieces, used and complete
75x98cm
To say we were thrilled to find this puzzle would be a gross understatement; a vintage Ravensburger like this doesn't turn up every day. The box had seen better days, which isn't surprising given its age (almost 50 years old), but the pieces themselves were as fresh and colourful as the day they came out of the factory. Casting aside our usual method of assembling our puzzles roughly by date purchased, we started on this one a few days after buying it. We weren't disappointed: a pleasing 'cut' and well-fitting pieces made assembly easy and so very enjoyable. A keeper!
By the way, after close scrutiny of his Flickr photo I'm convinced this is the exact same copy of this puzzle posted by Andrew Reynolds on May 17th 2021!
Apologies for the lousy picture quality - a combination of poor light and bad camerawork!

This picture is a gobelin tapestry by Jean Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755). Oudry was a French painter who specialized in painting hunting scenes, animal portraits, and still life scenes. He was also director of the Gobelin Factory in Beauvais and his were the sketches from which a complete series of tapestries were made. These tapestries depict the Hunts of Louis XV in the woods of Fontainebleau. Hunting was the privilege of the titled rich at that time. The highlight of hunting was the pursuit of deer with a pack of hounds.

One of Oscars favourite pastimes is chasing reflections on the walls & ceilings. Cutlery is one of the best, which will result in him tearing around the room as we try to eat a meal! We have had to be so careful since he broke his leg as he was supposed to be resting and not allowed to run & jump. now he is much better he is getting back into his old ways!
This shot is from a little while ago, just after Christmas as we were eating lunch & he was watching the fairies on the ceiling.
Just for fun, three Dragon Boats at a race, near my house. The boats are paddled by teams of 20; an additional person uses a large drum to give the rowers a cadence by which to row. It's all very exciting and colorful.
This was taken in August, but felt I should post something bright, after the foggy tree.

This old boxcar is arriving at Solvay, NY with CSX local B769. It's going to the Finger Lakes RR where it'll probably be loaded with big rolls of paper at WestRock. Usually there are three coil springs on the trucks, but there are only two on these (on the outside anyway). CAMY 4828.
A photography project where I take photos of people as if I am chasing them without knowing that they are being photographed.

My Flickr activity has been pretty non-existent for the last week because I had a tooth extraction and I've been living on pain killers ever since!! Been back to the dentist again today and following more treatment I'm hoping the pain may be beginning to fade a little. Also, have pills to take that means alcohol is banned! That's a blow :-)

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
[Chasing Cars lyrics on www.metrolyrics.com]
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Today is Chase's first day. I giggled when her owner said her name was Chase.
She got along quite well with Bailey but I think it's because Bailey's fur is pretty think and can handle all the chewing.
BTW, Chase is the daycare's first whippet.

Just before the sun peeked over the hills on a cold December morning in Dragonfly Park Orangeville. Chasing the sky with a coffee in hand, thinking it wasn't going to happen, then it did, my favourite pastime, watching the sunrise.
I took this photo some days ago, with the first "chasing myself", but being sick at home is so boring that I decided to give this photo a second chance :)
