The Art Float for Social Change made its debut at the Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade on June 28, 2018. This unique parade float features Mother Earth and a circle of hands, spinning on a carousel of art pulled by the pataphysical dragon Quetzy. Activists Emma Spike, Greg Brockbank and the Freedom Singers led us into song with classics like ‘Down by the Riverside’ and ‘This Land is Your Land’. Photo by Grace Severtson.

The Art Float was created by Fabrice Florin, Geo Monley and over a hundred volunteers at Tam Makers, with the gracious support of Good Earth, MVCAN, Pataphysical Studios, Tam High School and the Youth Poster Contest. We hope to inspire more people to participate in democracy -- and invite you all to vote, speak up and create a better world!

Thanks to all our friends and neighbors who made this project possible! We are very grateful to our wonderful photographers: Dana Dworin, Fabrice Florin, Vickisa Feinberg, Suz Lipman, Grace Severtson and Martha Ture, as well as videographers Luis Costa and Marin Witherspoon. Special thanks as well to Larry ‘The Hat’ Lautzer and the organizers of the Mill Valley Parade, who kindly gave us the Best Community Spirit Award for this collective art project.

We’ll present the Art Float again on June 9 at the Fairfax Parade, as well as in the Fourth of July Parade in Corte Madera -- and throughout California in fall 2018, to help get out the vote for our next elections. Learn more here: www.tammakers.org/art-float/

Community art is good for democracy and good for the soul. Be the change!

Just in Case:

Change. It's so close now I can taste is. I've wanted this for a while now, and now that it's just around the corner I want it more than ever! It's actually a little frustrating sometimes; especially when I tend to do something stupid and have to take a couple of steps back.

I need this. I need this. I need this.

Even a small change can reap big benefits. Consider alternatives. Look with fresh eyes. Register patterns. Feel where you are blocked or stale. Try something new. Start with small things and experience the difference. They you'll see the more important changes and you'll make them naturally.

Here's a picture I drew of Changed Daily from "The Secret Show", a cartoon I used to watch when I was a kid. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I have rather fond memories of it and decided to draw my favourite character.

I've always found Changed Daily an interesting character, with his constantly changing name and catchphrase "For reasons of security, my name is changed daily."

As I do with all my other drawings, this was initially drawn by hand in pencil and then outlined in black fineliner pen. After that I scanned it to my computer and coloured it in digitally.

There is now a petition on Change.org to bring The Secret Show back to our television screens, so if you're like me and you want to see a new series then please sign the petition: www.change.org/p/bbc-bring-the-secret-show-back-with-a-mo...

To me growth is the biggest change. Individuals blossom as they become more wise.

Have they found a new use for the Old Hall, looks as though they are changing it to an Open Prison. Perhaps they are going to lock some of the Councillors up in here.

We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy. Our parade float will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next election.

Our unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.

This community art project is created by a team of students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.

We are building this project in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

Change Creek is such a lovely creek. It tumbles over boulders for a couple miles until it merges with the Snoqualmie River. I tried slow-shutter and HDR but since I failed to bring a tripod I was not satisfied with the results. I will get a satisfactory shot of this creek eventually!

Lt. Col. Edward D. Eldridge conducts a Change of Responsibility ceremony as Command Sgt. Maj. Pedro Guevara accepts the duties as the new U.S. Army Garrison Casey senior enlisted leader at Hanson Field House Nov. 12. Guevara replaces Command Sgt. Major Alexander M. Peden. Peden served more than two years at USAG Casey.

A change in colour can be observed while the bubble is thinning due to evaporation and draining. Thicker walls cancel out red (longer) wavelengths, causing a blue-green reflection. Later, thinner walls will cancel out yellow (leaving blue light), then green (leaving magenta), then blue (leaving a golden yellow). Finally, when the bubble's wall becomes much thinner than the wavelength of visible light, all the waves in the visible region cancel each other out and no reflection is visible at all. When this state is observed, the wall is thinner than about 25 nanometers, and is probably about to pop.

Changed the handy on the & O too because it's wank!

I don't have a filter wrench, so I just stuck a screwdriver in and turned... all was well until I dropped the filter into the oil pan, sending used motor oil all over the floor, the bike, and me. Thank God this only has to be done every 3,000 miles.

Change is a fact of life. Here in South Texas the weather is starting to cool off just a touch. Instead of high 90’s we’re enjoying mid 80’s. In the words of a popular TV series. Winter is coming. Fishing patterns are changing as well as the length of the days. But somethings remain the same. Good friends, good food and accommodations beyond expectation are consistent at Bay Flats Lodge. Some changes are good but some things need to stay the same. Come stay with us at Bay Flats Lodge and enjoy the things that need to change while still relishing the things that don’t.

our old wooden (original) sash windows from 1890 were replaced the other week. These are the old sashes with years of the elements effecting the wood and many attempts at fending it off with paint... eventually though enough was enough.
