The old right-of-way was turned into parkland, seen here south from Montrose Avenue. It continues to Irving Park Road. It's named Challenger Park; I'm not sure if this is in honor of the STS-51-L astronauts.
EDIT: Apparently it is.
The challenge for Week 47 sent us on a quest for Geometric Shapes. They were easy to find and we worked on interesting ways to capture them.
This collage features photos from participating members. Find out more at Compositionally Challenged, where we aim to inspire creativity and improve our technical skills.
Challenge 2 What a learning experience this class is giving us. No more sitting in the back seat and observing. I think there are about 10 layers. Requirements: Person, landscape, must be square, and one of the squares from Grunge edge effects and custom brush from Distressed texture, 2 filters from Paree Erica and use of the technique from Module 2 Selective Black and White. Hope you enjoy my Jeweled Lady and landscaping from Scotty's castle in Death Valley, CA.
PORTRAIT FROM BEHIND is the topic for the 3rd of January 2011
Maya came over for a visit with her father this afternoon. Her dad and I watched the Canada USA hockey game that Canada won. I knew I could talk her into modeling for me. She is in grade two this year.

Challenge 5: The Klum of Doom
Challenge: Design a look for Heidi Klum to wear to the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Designer: Brie
Model: Heidi
This week's model is the Barbie that I think looks most like Heidi Klum. I took apart one of my daughter's play dresses that was falling apart at the seams to create this hot pink gown with sparkles at the shoulder. I would have preferred beading, but my beads seem to be mia. My gown is an off the shoulderesque with a plunging back.
It's just a safe design, but it is finished. As you can tell, the dress and doll are being snatched before I can finish taking pictures of them.

feb challenge: redo a stock outfit. i chose happy harbor.
this was a great challenge. i had a grand plan: a navy peacoat, perhaps a knit stripey fitted boatneck sweater, definitely a white pencil skirt (a la women's navy uniform). but then i couldn't find buttons tiny for the coat (you see pins standing in for buttons) and couldn't find a fabric store with plain white cotton or ANYTHING non-silky/slinky/shiny. so i made a ribbon skirt with the help of good ol' aleene's tacky glue. i decided i wanted a fitted coat, so i nixed the sweater and was gonna do a cute "tatoo" (on magic tape, for this purpose) on her collarbone. and i forgot the tape at work.
so last night i was frustrated and avoided working on it. and today i kinda gave up on making anything good come of it.
and then my camera battery was dead. so it was photobooth and holding miss vesta at the right angle to get in the frame. argh.
totally didn't come together. and my mailed packet for the march challenge is AWOL. i fear i'm not going to do so well.
argh

Da er vi klare for litt uploading etter en uke på Kreta. Mottok ukens tema med glede- da det stort sett er de små menneskene som fotograferes på tur. Forsøkte å ta noen bilder som ikke bare interesserer kjernefamilien.
