Second photo of the weekly challenge I have with /insecticidasparadragones and /J0R63

This week I chose the word. I thought that it was a good opportunity to show what means for me the photography, something that ultimately wrap me. The perfect photo has not gone out, but I think that this one has elements in common with the photo of the last week: My face is not visible completely and the use of the atrezzo.

Notes from the Director of Photography:

Wrong bridge, right town. You would expect the First Unit of Photography to get it right.

Mr. Shatner was unavailable for the remake so we used a little CGI. We have lawyers on standby.

I also have some concerns about Mr. Shatner's being better lit.

I'll be blogging seriously from Nepal at www.facebook.com/jackkinross and www.jackkinross.blogspot.com

I'll post on Flickr when internet speeds allow, it's just that I wont be able to get round to commenting quite as much ... but I will when I can!

Cheers Jack

ODC2 - Our Daily Challenge - Take a Risk

I recently had to do a challenge for Scavenge Challenge which required us to "Create a still life using a mix of 3-7 metal AND glass items. Watch overblown highlights!"

(My original submission is in comments!) The feedback in comments was so useful, especially regarding the composition (which I had ignored in favour of concentrating on getting no highlights).

My challenges with this are:

I only have natural light

I don't have a long tripod just a tabletop one, but there wasn't enough top to stand it on!!

My studio is a kitchen counter which divides the kitchen and dining rooms and has windows on all four sides, lovely for normal photography but not when you don't want any light to shine off objects.

First I drew all the curtains and hung a piece of black fabric behind the items. But the light still penetrated the fabric - it is a lovely hot, bright, sunny day!! So I put a piece of cardboard behind the fabric! I also used a piece of black foam board on the counter top. I then arranged the items and took lots of shots on my point and shoot using the auto and macro settings because it is a faster shutter speed (hand held!) But in the low light I couldn't hold the camera steady enough so the focus was not good!! I wasn't happy with the arrangement and altered it some more. Then tried using the manual macro setting - no better!

Then I tried just the "Scene" setting where the camera decides what to use to see what it chose for the conditions! But nothing was well in focus. So I decided I would have to try and use something as a tripod, in about 2" of space!! Found a plastic container but had to hold it in one hand and press the shutter with the other! Guess what ... that didn't work so good either!

Eventually I used my table top tripod with just two legs on the counter and held the third leg in my hand and the camera set for night landscapes and at last a reasonably clear picture. But hang on .... there is still a highlight on the one glass - where is that coming from? So I shuffled myself over to the right until I was blocking the light out and stretched to the left to press the camera shutter. This is the best shot!!

I think I got it!!

This has to be Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour!! LOL

And absolutely this now goes to replace my submission to

For those of you who do not have time to read the saga - the condensed version of this is: "Oh boy this was a real challenge!" :-))

Have a great day!

I didn't think I'd find any flowers in a Welsh seaside town in January but then I looked at the hotel wall!

INSTRUCTIONS AVAILABLE

Closely based on my design of this car from about eight years ago, this model has been redesigned for instructions, in this (Top Gear Maverick) form, but also buildable in many customised and standard variants.

In late 2005, Dodge teased spy photos of the Dodge Challenger prototype on the internet and it was announced on November 21, 2005, showing an official drawing sketch of the vehicle. The Dodge Challenger Concept was unveiled at the 2006 North American International Auto Show and was a preview for the 3rd generation Dodge Challenger that started its production in 2008. Many design cues of the Dodge Challenger Concept were adapted from the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T.

On December 3, 2007, Chrysler started taking deposits for the 3rd-generation Dodge Challenger which debuted on February 6, 2008, simultaneously at the Chicago Auto Show and Philadelphia International Auto Show. Listing at US$40,095, the new version was a 2-door notchback coupe (seating 5 passengers with over 33 cubic feet of rear passenger volume) which shared common design elements with the first generation Challenger, despite being significantly longer and taller. As with Chevrolet's new Camaro, the Challenger concept car's pillarless hardtop body was replaced with a fixed "B" pillar, hidden behind the side glass to give an illusion of the hardtop. A convertible version was planned, but cancelled over concerns with weight and a low market demand for convertibles.

The LC chassis is a modified (shortened wheelbase) version of the LX platform that underpins the Dodge Charger (LX), Dodge Magnum, and the Chrysler 300. The LX was developed in America from the previous Chrysler LH platform, which had been designed to allow it to be easily upgraded to rear and all-wheel drive. Many Mercedes components were incorporated, or used for inspiration, including the Mercedes-Benz W220 S-class control arm front suspension, the Mercedes-Benz W211 E-Class 5-link rear suspension, the W5A580 5-speed automatic, the rear differential, and the ESP system. All (7119) 2008 models were SRT8s and equipped with the 6.1 L (370 cu in) Hemi V8 engine and a 5-speed AutoStick automatic transmission.

Dodge parent company Stellantis has recently discontinued the platform underpinning the Challenger, but has announced a new mixed-energy platform underpinning a new EV car.

The challenge this week was to Fill the Frame with One Color and we found a wealth of subjects - large and small - to do just that.

This collage features photos from participating members. Find out more at Compositionally Challenged, where we aim to inspire creativity and improve our technical skills.

Although this is not a police car, I really love this photo. It is a prototype of the 2008 Dodge Challenger at the 2007 Toronto International Auto Show. The cars are going to be built at the Brampton Chrysler plant, northwest of Toronto, which also builds the Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300.
