We stopped at Chain of Rocks on the Illinois side of the Mississippi and walked across the bent bridge to the Missouri side. This was an old Route 66 Bridge. We even saw a group of American White Pelicans in the Mississippi River. The Bridge is now a biking and walking path between the two states.
