Step back 37 years ago today to July 05, 1985 on today's CF&E. We are in Wheeler, Indiana to catch Amtrak 324, The Indiana Connection making the eastbound station stop in Wheeler. The was the 2nd, shorter and less patronized of the two Valpo Dummies, generally the first one west in the morning and the last one east in the evening. Few people used the Wheeler stop, halfway between Hobart and Valparaiso. A lot was changing very quickly. Within a month or so, Conrail's single tracking would retire the westward main seen here between Wanatah and Hobart. And in January, 1986, Amtrak cut the Dummy to just one each way, and the Indiana Connection seen here was discontinued.
As a side note, Amtrak 280 survives today, first as CSX 9998, and more recently as CSX 1.
The CF-18 Hornet Demo Team lit up the Friday night sky at Airshow London! 🌌 Shooting in the dark isn’t easy, but those afterburners make it all worth it!

Was very surprised to see this thing downtown, i'd only imagine seeing this in a more rural environment.
CF-GSR - Noorduyn Norseman Mk. 5 - Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM)

The Museum’s Noorduyn Norseman, CF-GSR (c/n N29-47) , was built in 1950 by Canadian Car and Foundry, Fort William, Ontario.
Sounds like a joke -
the almost 70 years old Norseman is flying on a regular basis -
the almost brand-new B-737MAX-8 in the background is grounded

I have no idea what this flower is I'm sure someone here will know. The Botanical Gardens are a treat but, if you come know it is about a 1 mile walk to the Orchid park and once inside that area another good bit of a walk. Not far but, the heat can be oppressive if you have a back pack my advice think your gear thru and go light.
I rarely see any mention of this Vivitar 135MM CF lens. The "real one" 62mm filter thread. I got mine for about $130 US and it is truly in pristine condition maybe because I got the OM mount version. If you are looking for a vintage 135mm I would throw this one in the mix because it does have very close focusing ability.

Aparentemente en el bosque de ribera no habÃa nada, pero al volver un viejo tronco de chopo, escondido entre sus huecos carcomidos, apareció este hermoso hongo , como pequeños abanicos blancos, suaves y afieltrados, adheridos lateralmente a la madera muerta. No tiene pie visible: simplemente nace pegado al soporte, como si brotara directamente de la memoria del árbol que fué.
Con el tiempo, sus láminas —primero blancas, luego suavemente ocráceas por la maduración de las esporas— se arquean desde un punto central, recordando la forma de una concha marina perdida en mitad del monte. Vive de lo que ya ha caÃdo, saprófito paciente, transformando restos vegetales en vida futura.
No tiene valor culinario, pero sà un encanto silencioso: el de esas especies que, sin llamar la atención, sostienen el ciclo del bosque. Allà donde lo encuentras, sabes que la descomposición sigue su curso, que el monte respira.
