First to find certificate presented to Ole Morten 63 (Now changed username to Agaton Saxx) and myself for being the first to complete the challenge and then log the final cache. A distance of approx 450 - 500 km driven.

Translation -
After a long and intense evening and night can the two gents collect a well deserved FTF.
18 caches in 18 districts in the county of Telemark were visited in under 15 hours with a start at 19.00 at the St. Hansaften event.
The gents had lots of different weather on the tour! Everything from sunshine and over 20* to 5* and rain.
An achievement to be proud of.

This is father's discharge certificate at the end of WW II. In the medals section they do not list the long service medal which he was also awarded. He served for a little more than four years and was not discharged until six months after the end of the war.
During the war, according to father, they had a point system and if you got enough points you could go home. There were points for years overseas and months at the front. Father said that all of his service in the FSSF (a commando unit) counted. When he was wounded in April 1945 he said he had his points and he was going home whether the war was over or not. I have tried to find some record of this point system but wasn't able to. I doubt if very many Canadian soldiers ever got their points.
Postscript: "BRINGING THE SOLDIERS HOME
With transport space in short supply after the surrender of Germany and the end of the war in Europe, the military could not bring all the armed forces members home at once. Just getting these people back home to Canada was the first hurdle in helping them return to civilian life.
■There was a complicated point system to determine a soldier’s priority for going home.
â– Soldiers received two points for each month of service in Canada, three for each month of service overseas and a 20% bonus if they were married. The higher the score, the better the chance for a quick return home.
â– Soldiers who volunteered for duty in the Pacific War were given top priority for going home.
■Once back home in Canada, each soldier received 30 days’ leave, followed by discharge from the military"
Perhaps this is the point system to which father was referring. Father, however, seemed to think that he could go home even if the war was ongoing. This point system refers to going home after the war was over. I think father was incorrect in his assumption. Towards the end of the war the Canadian Army was very short of men. If the war had not ended when it did, father most likely would have ended up back in combat.
I note that father was discharged from Wolseley Barracks in London, Ontario.

I got a teaching certificate at the age of 44. It didn't do me much good though. Teaching Trade Union Rules were such that I couldn't even apply for many jobs. I took a job on a one year contract teaching "A" and "O" level English at a Further Education College that was a former Grammar School and my student's did extremely well. The contract was renewed for another two years, then it went the way of temporary contracts. I never did anything but Supply Teaching for the rest of my working life. Didn't get a pension.
Moshe has started hosting Make-Your-Own-Pizza nights on a regular basis. At one of the last ones, we played Apples To Apples, and I somehow ended up winning (after a play-off round with Bela's boyfriend Leandro, since we'd tied).
It's an interesting story I'll not get into, how Moshe happened to acquire a blank framed certificate. Anyway, he retrieved it and a dry-erase marker, and filled it out to give to me, and everybody signed their names. We've decided to make it a tradition--though at the last MYOP, we didn't break out any games, so it's still in my possession. I hope we can keep this going--it's hilarious and awesome. :)

On September 27 , 2007, a strong Delta II rocket lit its main engine and nine solid-fueled boosters to catapult the NASA Dawn spacecraft towards the asteroid belt. Dawn will fly by Mars on its way to the asteroid Vesta, where it will arrive in August 2011. After Vesta the spacecraft will ignite its ion engines again to go to Ceres, formerly known as the largest asteroid in the Solar System but now the smalles dwarf planet. Dawn should arrive at Ceres in February 2015.
