There are around 30 of these celestial dancers adorning the temple. All of them are intricately carved, and have lots of detail. No dancer is similar, each statue is different.

Stars erupting out of Mauna Loa volcano in the big island of Hawai'i.
The scary overnight hairpin drive to the Mauna Kea visitor center was totally worth it. 9300 ft above the sea, no light pollution, a new moon phase, and clouds at our feet. I did not have a tracker so I ended up with a bit of star trail in the photos but I'm satisfied overall.

I was listening to the song "Celestial Soda Pop" by Ray Lynch when i painted this. it was just kinda a fun experiment with letting the paint do what it wanted to.
i actually just realized that the CD cover to Deep Breakfast by Ray lynch is a watercolor painting... ha and it kinda has the same affect as mine does... weird. I think the CD cover is better than mine though.

This past Saturday, February 6, the Moon danced in a triangle with it's cousins, Venus and Mercury at sunrise.
Venus is the bright object on the right side of the image. Mercury is the faint dot of light in the clouds directly below the moon, making a pretty celestial triangle.
The only thing missing is a working beacon in the lighthouse. But you can't have everything.
