This glittering ball of stars is the globular cluster NGC 1898, which lies toward the center of the Large Magellanic Cloud — one of our closest cosmic neighbors. The Large Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf galaxy that hosts an extremely rich population of star clusters, making it an ideal laboratory for investigating star formation.
Discovered in November 1834 by British astronomer John Herschel, NGC 1898 has been scrutinized numerous times by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Today we know that globular clusters are some of the oldest known objects in the universe and that they are relics of the first epochs of galaxy formation. While we already have a pretty good picture on the globular clusters of the Milky Way — still with many unanswered questions — our studies on globular clusters in nearby dwarf galaxies just started. The observations of NGC 1898 will help to determine whether their properties are similar to the ones found in the Milky Way, or if they have different features, due to being in a different cosmic environment.

Lego Spaceship MOC: The Celestial Empress is a large nuclear pulse propelled spaceship designed specifically to take a contained colony to Alpha Centauri. The Nuclear warhead propulsion system is based on the Project Orion concept and will take this half million Earth ton vessel to .99.99 of the speed of light. It take a little over a year to reach maxim velocity, it will then cruise for a further 4.5 years before flipping over and using the same propulsion to decelerate for another year before reaching its destination of Alpha Centauri.
There is a transit system from the bow module to the cargo modules

A fun celestial meeting this evening. The Waning Gibbous Moon, at 94% full, is in the middle of the constellation Gemini. I took this with my iP16Pro at 5x zoom. You have the bright moon. Then below and to the right, you have Jupiter (with a good pair of binoculars, you can see its moon Io to its upper right). On the left you have two stars from Gemini, Castor, above left, and Pollux, lower left. It’s interesting to note that I’m also a Gemini 😁

It is an interesting experience to see clouds from the other side. This is when we realize how huge they are and can generate lightening.
The arched ceiling of the nave of Cologne Cathedral. To the left of the photo the nave organ (Orgelbau Klais, 1998) can be seen.
This my second Bokeh experiment... :)
For those who are wondering on the setup for the bokeh shots I take..Please be little more patient and i promise that you will come across the setup..
Coming to this shot.. Setup up the camera with my fav 55-200mm VR lens with on tripod.. used a longer shutter speed. Start at 55 and manually zoomed into 200mm while the shutter is open for this zoom effect....:)
No Photoshop Effects..Slight Color saturation increase and blacks clipping are done ..
No Annoying Graphic banners and Award Invitations Please..

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fine Flickr friends.
Baking pies for our family's Thanksgiving dinner is a tradition I truly love. My family has come to expect the pies, so there's no getting out of it now! LOL As I was piling the homemade apple filling (enhanced with pears, dried cranberries and pecans) into the pastry crust, it made me feel thankful for so many things in my life. One of my greatest joys is sharing these pies with family and friends. . . please, help yourself.

Blessed to be a part of this wonderful event which happens once in a one and a half century ! 😍 View of red blood face of lunar beast from Kollam !
Long exposure at the Leith Docks, it was a beautiful evening. When I saw this capture I was thinking of this tune www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r58xH3YbBk hence the title
From left to right: Haystack Rock, The omnipresent Moon, Venus, unknown star, and then the shy, but extremely large Jupiter. All hanging out at our planet's largest ocean. All this without a tripod and on ISO 100 because I'm a big dummy and forgot about my ISO settings at the end of a very long, but awesome day. This was Saturday's sunset, on the one and only Cannon Beach.

Beautiful star trails over the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank Jan 2012. The star arcs show how the sky rotates around the North Celestial Pole as the Earth is spinning.
