The ultimate in HIFI: Denon. In particular: The Denon S series. In my case: The S10's. This particular item is the Denon SCS-S10II.

How quaint -- we still used CD players! (And VCRs.)

BACKSTORY: Dave O visited and took some pictures. I hadn't seen these until I ran out of pictures to upload and tweet'ed that I need more pictures of mine. He sent them right away! Nice! I did a lot of work to remove the dust specs and to try to fix the color/brightness/sharpness. Dave had one of the first digital cameras ever -- the Sony Mavica, which used floppy discs.

rear side: one of the mods I made are shiny golden RCA connectors

The scuzzy connectors and cables are gone.

I like how the cd player blends into the magazines around it.

About the size of a shoebox, but it gets the job done just fine!

This kind of thing used to seem absurd: why put a cassette player and a CD player in a 1930s-style box?! But now it's starting to make sense, and will only seem more so -- a bunch of 20th century media players in a 20th-century-style box.

For the All New Scavenger Hunt #11 - Something that really makes you happy.

This is my state-of-the-art, circa 1985, stereo system. ("If it ain't broke, don't fix it!") I love to listen to my CD's and old LP's! There's always something to fit whatever mood I'm in and that makes me happy!

If you have a minute listen to this beautiful song by John Denver and Placido Domingo, wonderfully illustrated with photos from flickr:

On my desk in my study: A Denon PMA-S10II and Denon DCD-S10II. They produce the most brilliant sound ever heard. Handel's Messiah never sounded this good.

Philips CD100 CD Player. Compact Disc machines were introduced to the UK on 1st March 1983, and the CD100 was Philip's first machine and, at £450, the cheapest available. This example still bears a sticker claiming 'Philips Compact Disc the origin of pure perfect sound forever'. c1983.

Philips CD471 - I like the simplicity - only very few buttons

(would never buy a CD880)
