We had a fawn at the edge of the yard that seemed to be checking out the water.

The doe didn't come in so the little one didn't either.

There are many points on this portion of what is known in Australia as a Prickly Pear.

Introduced to Australia at colonizaiton, the prickly pear was initially used for the red dye of its berries. However, the plant quickly spread and soon covered many thousands of acres with its harsh, spiny growth, making the ground unusable for any form of agricultural pursuit.

In 1925 the moth, Cactoblastis cactorum, was introduced from Argentina and helped eradicate much of the growth. However, many have regrown and the prickly pear remains and invasive species..

Today there are gusty wind and wildfire advisories.

This sign, though, is to warn drivers not to fall off the low water crossing into the river. There are no railings because they would wash away. In wet years (like this one) the river flows over the road and I must drive through it to get home.
