My wife and I were visiting Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area in Christmas, FLorida, when we decided to take a short hike. We had not gone far when we found this old bridge badly in need of repair. It had a sign next to it that said
"Caution Bridge Unsafe" My wife said I'm not walking across that old bridge. I said I agree, so we went back to our "Xtera" got in it and "drove" across the bridge. As they say In The South "We didn't fall off no turnip truck" (which means we weren't dumb)
This is almost a true story!

I have always thought that sign would make more sense if it was in braille. I mean, if you can see the sign, you should also be able to see the cliff. Right?

We took a nice long hike at South Valley Park. Finally, a break from the hot and sunny weather, we had mostly nice but moody light and a gentle breeze.
About a week ago, we decided to spend the day in the garden since the weather was perfect. My husband finished breakfast as I put on my sneakers and walked into the garden. Bluejays shrieked and screamed. Wrens cried while Titmice and Chickadees roused the other forest inhabitants. The brouhaha continued, yet I could not see any danger. Had I missed the fox roaming the woods? Did the crows raid a nest? Was the red-tailed hawk making off with a Mama Robin? When Angelo came into the garden, we walked toward the tree line where the Bluejays were the loudest. It took just a few seconds for Angelo to spot the cause of the ruckus. Up in one of the pine trees was a Black Rat Snake!

An eroded channel makes a hiking passage challenging. It was a lot more narrow that it looks here, enough to put one foot down with just enough room left to bring the other foot around. At least you didn't have to worry about falling much.
Zebra in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Northwest Botswana near the Kalahari Plains Camp. This is a typical image of Africa, animals going in the opposite direction. This zebra was aware of every move we made and never let us close. There seem to be a lot of images of animals butts on every African photo safari
