We spent the day on Catalina Island. There are many fun activities to do like glass bottom and semi-submerged boat tours as well as an inland island tour which is what we did. You can also just enjoy the beautiful scenery. What a gorgeous place. One interesting note about Catalina Island is that there is 20 year waiting list to own a full sized vehicle on the island. Seemed like about 90% of the vehicles were gas powered golf carts. They all needed to be licensed and insured like normal vehicles on the mainland.
Maintaining a PBY Catalina involves regular checks of its airframe, engines, and float systems, all of which endure stress from long flights and water operations. The vintage radial engines require expert attention and hard-to-find parts, making experienced hands essential for keeping the aircraft flying safely.
I realize that my 'before' picture of Cat looks like she's WS, but I'm pretty sure it was just the outside lighting that made her look so white, even on that much older NS body! She's actually very-much-so a NS girl as you can see in Andrea/AngelToast's photo~ That's her truer tone!
'Before' photo shows pictures of Catalina when she freshly arrived from Knibitz! 'After' is Andrea's photo of her freshly modded & painted, so beautiful & exactly what I asked for! Loving that gold so much!
She's beautiful and I can't wait to have her home!!! I think she'll be amazing with my NEW!Sebby!!

Santa Catalina, one of California’s Channel Islands, lies southwest of Los Angeles. It is known for its wildlife, dive sites and Mt. Orizaba, its highest peak. The resort town of Two Harbors lies to the north. To the south, in the city of Avalon, palm trees and cabanas line Descanso Beach. Avalon’s circular, art deco Catalina Casino is a cultural center with a movie theater, ballroom and museum.

Newly registered to the Chino CA museum just on July 3rd which hopefully means it will finally be restored after languishing here for years, maybe not flying much after starring in the movie Always in 1989, certainly not after 1993. I was not planning on visiting here but I heard of the existence of this machine and was not much of a diversion from my route. There were no other fixed wing aircraft visible other than glider tugs, which is now the prime purpose of this rather large airfield which was a WW2 B17 bomber training base and is also used by Ameriflight with service to Portland and Boeing Field.

RWB Catalina, Houston, TX, 2013
A shot from our shoot with Danny's Porsche 993 RWB Catalina in front of Discovery Green. The image is a merged image of 8-10 photos using the "Brennizer" method. I feel like the image can still be edited so I'll prob re-up the final later.
You'll have to visit the southern portion of the SW states of the US to see this bird. It's strictly a desert resident. There were several in the area, and they allowed close approach. I'm away from my home turf, and not that familiar with this specie. I was lucky to get this view that shows the under-tail details. This feature is the best discriminator between the several Gnatcatcher species... this truly is the best view for IDing this species!
