A couple of people ordering after dark at a Manhattan food cart.

Most New York visitors have some story they can tell about being "taken" but a street vendor — at least they do if they actually go out and wander the streets of Manhattan. Mine is actually pretty tame, but it is instructional nonetheless. About two decades ago we visited with our kids and (if I remember correctly) on the first day we wandered out towards Madison Square Gardens and its transportation hub. I decided that I wanted bagels (or was it pretzels?) for everyone, so I walked up and said something like, "I'll take five." I was handed five and then informed that they would be something like $5 each. Twenty years ago. Lesson learned: sort out the price first! (I can tell a similar story about fresh apricots in Heidelberg...)

That aside, there is something attractive about these stands — in the same way the county fair food booths are attractive if you are in the right frame of mind. I find them even more interesting at twilight or after dark, when their flamboyant lighting casts a right of light outwards onto the sidewalk. (One son who lives in Manhattan tells me, "You know dad, that might not be the best Philly cheesesteak you'll even have.")

Carts at Noble Environmental’s newly purchased transfer station, looks like they might try to start a hauling operation from it.

The Shops at Iverson - Hillcrest Heights, Maryland

So while I was driving behind the MacDade Mall ACME, something caught my eye. The store had recently gotten a new fleet of carts, and had the old ones outside waiting to be taken away. One of the carts looked a lot different than the rest, so I pulled over and took a look at it. This has got to be original to the store, it still has their 60's logo! Granted, this was still being used up until the early 80's, but by then carts would have been a little bigger.

Carts from multiple homes clustered up for removal by CanDo Services. CanDo was hired by both Republic Services and Valley Vista Services for the rollout and removal of carts for Valley's new contract with the City of Cypress beginning July 1, 2015.

Newer carts were put back in stock for distribution to other cities or unincorporated LA County areas. The old Rotos, sadly, were broken down and sent off to be recycled. Though most of them said "City of Cypress", thereby rendering them useless in other places.

Me imagino que hayáis tomado muchas de este sitio. Esta es otra mas de estos Torreones.

Not sure where this cart came from. We've definitely never had any of these distributed here.

An abandoned cattle cart up the hill. Took it a few days ago and edited it yesterday morning. I had planned to upload it yesterday but with the fresh snowfall I decided to upload a new shot.
