Inside the living room of a derelict and, from the outside, almost completely overgrown cottage at Carter's Downs.
F W Carter had a scrapyard on the Luton Road, just past Vauxhall Motors, on the corner of Boscombe Road in Dunstable. In the back of the yard in April 1987 was this Volvo F88 tractor until NVE 967R. New in 1976, it had only two more months on the road.
Carter moved out a few years ago, although the building survives as a Tile outlet.

The history of Carter, Wyoming, is closely related to that of two other important events in settling the West: Fort Bridger and the Union Pacific Railroad. Carter, a station on the Union Pacific Railroad, was built to supply the army at Fort Bridger also the settlers south from the Fort through Henrys Fork, Burnt Fork and Browns Hole for a short time. This home may have housed any one of the many families who lived in Carter to support the railroad.
Carter lake in the background is big enough for some nice size boats but thid time of year their all in dry dock - my ride destination - 110 mile in farm country.

The Carter Road Bridge was built in 1939 and is a lift bridge. The other lift bridge next to it is an abandoned railroad bridge.

There were multitudes of Agents Carter at the con. She was probably my favorite, partly because the fit, construction, and proportions of her costume were so good. These costumes based on "real" clothes are harder to do than they look. We don't necessarily know what Batman's body armor is made of and how it's put together. But we know what a woman's jacket ought to look like. So if it's not professionally-sewn and doesn't fit right and looks to be made from a material that would never be used for a suit...it sticks out.
More than that, I liked her because I'm more taken by cosplayers than by cosplay. And she looks terrific here! I keep saying that the ones who catch my eye are the ones who clearly are having a great time.
Photo notes: Mmph. Wish I'd hit her with more flash. I missed the first two mornings of the Con, and this was my first experience with 10 AM in this space. Like many amateurs, experience shortens the trial-and-error process but doesn't eliminate it.
