Here he was, tied to a clump of saplings halfway up a rather steep hill - notice the water bottle in case he became thirsty?!. Figured his owner brought him down so far, then hitched a ride - Jamaican carpooling?!

Carpooling home did not make for a shorter commute.

Short version of what happened:

We were sideswiped by a lady trying to merge two lanes at once. This lady upon seeing traffic slowing moved from the middle lane straight for the HOV, and hit us. This sent her back to the fast lane where she rear ended a stopped sedan sending her on two wheels and back to the HOV lane. The SUV we were in received minimal damage and was able to drive. The other two cars were totaled and had to be towed away, but everyone survived.

Another doggy shoot with Guardian Angel Dog Rescue! I definitely enjoyed this one. Me and Blayne carpooled with Spencer to get all the way down to the Brandon and Riverview area. These were some of my favourite dogs! Gigi, Penelope, Scott, Angel & Nicky. I did take pictures of Pirate, Maria, but I didn't like how they turned out. They're total sweethearts! It was so hard to get shots of Gigi and Nicky, such hyper dogs! They wouldn't sit still. Oh, man, I would've adopted Gigi in a heartbeat. Too bad my parents don't want dogs in the house. Spencer is awesome! I love what we does for these dogs. It's extraordinary! He keeps tons of dogs in his house that he rescues from shelters and sends as many as he can to foster homes. These people are amazing. I wish I could stay in Florida longer to take pictures of these dogs and get them adopted! Spencer said it himself, "pictures are what get dogs adopted". I feel as if I've been destined to come down here. I have more of an opportunity down here in in Tampa than I do back home. I also have tons of dogs and people around me that I love. Oh, and did I mention the lovely weather year round? I think I should transfer schools already!

We finally made it! I carpooled with Jelanie to get here. I was attending The Forge Youth Retreat here. The location we went was at the Anthony Chabot Regional Park which is just east of San Leandro, CA. We had a fun time out in the great outdoors. Activities included a few group sessions from John 15: 1-11, hiking, s’mores, lots of eating and of course just simply enjoying the beautiful outdoors with The Cornerstone SJ Church fam\youth. The weather was nice out (though a bit chilly at night). I’m already looking forward for the next youth retreat! This retreat took place back on July 30-31, 2021. ‘Til next time, safe travels everyone! (Friday, July 30, 2021)

*A bit about this park: Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a regional park in Oakland, Alameda County. It is part of the East Bay Regional Park District system, and covers 5,067 acres in the San Leandro Hills adjacent to Oakland, San Leandro and Castro Valley. Activities include hiking, cycling and horseback riding. The terrain of the park is often steep, consisting of grasslands, chaparral, and eucalyptus groves. Visitors can explore miles of beautiful hiking, riding, and bicycling trails, which wind thru grasslands, chaparral, and shady eucalyptus groves and stretch along the shores of Lake Chabot. It's truly a beautiful year-round public campground indeed!

Montgomery bus boycott

After Rosa Parks was arrested on Dec.1, 1955, for refusing to let a white passenger take her seat on a Montgomery, AL, bus, African Americans began a prolonged boycott of the bus company by walking or carpooling for more than a year. On Dec. 21, 1956, black passengers once again rode Montgomery City Lines. The Boycott is represented by a detail from "Walking," a 1958 painting by Charles Alston.

first one tried to scalp me for $20...this one was already driving a girl to queens at 11:30pm and i got a ride over the manhattan bridge to myrtle ave for $12. bargained him from his initial offer of $15.

my entire night included $7 into manhattan with a guy carpooling people for personal cash (he wanted $10) then this cab back to bklyn for $12. on the rest of the walk home from myrtle (approx 6ish blocks) i picked up a $.99 bag of potato chips. so my round-trip cost $19.99 and a bag of chips! whut whut!!

I love that my girls have such good friends who live three doors down. Play dates, carpooling and fun times! But not sure what we would do if we ever had to move away. Ella and her little friend Grace are attached to the hip all day at school. They are lost when the other isn't there.

This morning we had a Zoom parents’ meeting over a change of transport company for Irsyad. Prices are somewhat similar to market rate and national schools, in other words it’s more ex than what we are paying for currently. I think as much as we want to opt for carpooling / taxi / grab services to avoid paying the expensive rates, safety should never be compromised. I love it when the new transport company explained about the SOPs put in place should anything unexpected happens. Plus, there will be a permanent coordinator from the transport company itself to handle any questions/feedback from Irsyad parents. This is superb. There is accountability in black and white and this is very important. Even if I am not working and I can provide carpool services with my own car, I would not do so sebab the risks are so high. Nyawa anak orang in my hands, berat wei. What if kereta kita break down in the middle of the road, dengan anak orang lain dalam kereta kita. I cannot imagine. Most importantly, there are cameras in the transport, more of as evidence should any mishaps occur. Of course, from a business perspective, it’s really a million-making machine for the transport company cos they went all out and fought hard to be awarded the contract. Bismillah may all be well. ❤️
