I won an award while I worked at DHL Express for using alternative transportation. In addition to driving a Prius, to get to work had been bicycling, carpooling, and taking the bus.

Ridelink, the free carpooling service for the UCT community was launched during Green Week. Fourteen students squeezed and fitted into a 1969 Volkswagen Beatle on 22 September 2010 on Jameson Plaza in an awareness-raising campaign to show the fun of carpooling.
Nothing perks up a commute home like spotting the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile! Is it just me or has it become more weiner and less bun over the years? No matter. This was taken from the 45N HOV lane. There's plenty of room in that thing. Maybe we can talk them into carpooling with us! Funny I'm this excited about a giant hot dog when I refuse to actually eat them. I wonder if the interior smells like hot dog water. Ok, nevermind. You stay on your side of the cement barrier and we'll stay on ours, Weinermobile!

A beautiful drive thru the scenic forests of Eldorado National Forest. I was carpooling with my sister's family at the time. We were enroute to our camping trip with the rest of the fam! Fun times... (Saturday afternoon, ‎August ‎20, ‎2022)
This was during me and my families’ annual camping trip. This year, we went to the Wench Creek Campground located up in the Sierra Nevada, particularly around Kyburz, CA. Wench Creek Campground is located in a beautiful ponderosa pine forest on the east shore of the Union Valley Reservoir. The campground has 2 group campsites and several single-family campsites. Plenty of water activities await at this reservoir in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The Union Valley Bike Trail and Bassi Falls Hiking Trail are also worth exploring. Outdoor activities include boating, biking, hiking, fishing, sightseeing and more. Camping is all about disconnecting from real life, spending some time outdoors and strengthening your family relationships. One of the best things about camping is that you have nothing to do, and all day to do it. It forces you to look up from your screen, slow down, and appreciate your surroundings… From stargazing at night while sitting around the campfire, to waking up early to watch the sunrise and prepare breakfast, camping is the perfect outdoor adventure for creating lasting memories! ‘Til next time, safe travels! This was my friend. We were only allowed three of four precious carpooling runs together before he was taken from me, and I don't know how. He and I both contributed carbon-type toxins to our mother earth while driving on our 38 mile commute, but never again. His shell lies on the dashboard of my car. He is beautiful.

The school near our hostel had a parking lot filled with hundreds of bikes. Many of them folding ones like this one. Chinese bikes all seemed to have bombproof rear racks, some looked like they were as strong as the bike frames. Good for passengers I guess.
The Jacques Cartier Bridge and their wonderful new suicide fences. From what I heard, it was the second most popular bridge to jump from behind the Golden Gate.
A meandering all-day social climb up the First Flatiron organized by Rom McGuffin. We had two ropes, but even so, with eight people things go slowly. Ironically because the meetup was in S. Boulder, I rode all the way down there, and then we "carpooled" back to Chautauqua, in Football traffic, climbed (we could hear the stadium from up on high) and then "carpooled" back to S. Boulder, where I got on my bike and rode home (unimpeded by said traffic). Tons of people up on the rocks, many without gear. Beautiful day. And I got to practice listening to Russian!

The Wild Huckleberries Red Hatters met in Valdosta to carpooled to Boston, GA. In Boston, we toured the Dillon Candy Factory. Then we took a driving tour through downtown Boston, GA. Next we drove back toward Valdosta and stopped in Quitman and had a delicious lunch at the Wiregrass Restaurant. It was a fun time of candy tasting, shopping, winning prizes, eating, and fellowship.
I decided that I needed to get back to the gym to do weights and tonight was a trial run. I carpooled with my co-worker and warmed up a bit on the bike before tackling the weights. I didn't do much, just 15 minutes but then I walked home to Fremont from Lower Queen Anne which is about 3 miles with a HUGE hill in the center. The hill is called the Counterbalance and it almost killed me. I survived and made it home but I don't think I'll be doing that again. Next time, I'll just drive to the gym. It will be easier that way. I did get a great workout in though!

I carpooled up to SF with Tom Arnold, Chief Environmental Officer of Terrapass, to interview him at Wharton West for iinnovate. After we completed the interview and before I stepped into the elevator, I saw the most fascinating chandelier decorated with paper. Thought it was flickr appropriate!
