This is from 850 feet underground in the Carlsbad Caverns of New Mexico. This was a nice stop for us, the National Park service has done a really nice job of preserving this while still allowing for visitors. Luckily we made this side trip a couple of days before the Gov't shutdown. It's hard to get a sense of scale here but the stalactites and stalagmites are 30-40+ feet high from the floor and long from the ceiling. The main "room" is almost a mile long and probably 150' high.
Just a panorama I did while checking out this Cliff in Carlsbad, CA. Just a pretty good representation of the coastline around here. Soft dirt and sandstone cliffs with ice plant growing in the foreground. This scape can look very lush at times and then very desolate and rough just depending on the lighting and time of the year.
Thanks!
The amazing and huge Carlsbad Caverns. For scale, those two towers in the cavern are over 75 feet tall!

Apparently it's been six years since I posted a photo. Really? Where does the time go? Out and about while trying to find Sarah's Cavern, does anyone know where it is? I took this.
I went to Carlsbad Caverns today. WOW! WOW! WOW! It is up there with the Grand Canyon as one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my entire life. My photos cannot possibly do justice to this amazing place. This is one tiny part of the Big Room. It is called that because it is BIG! I've been in lots of caverns, but nothing that even begins to compare with this. The Big Room is thousands of feet long, and in some places, it's hundreds of feet wide, and often the ceiling is over a hundred feet high. All this lies 750 feet below ground. AMAZING!
