NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet captured and berthed Japan’s HTV-6 supply craft on 14 December using the International Space Station’s 17 m-long Canadarm2 robotic arm.

The H-II Transfer Vehicle, or HTV, is also called Kounotori – Japanese for ‘white stork’. The sixth craft in the series, it was launched from Japan’s Tanegashima spaceport on 9 December.

Setting up a temporary robotics workstation in the Station’s Cupola observatory module, the astronauts monitored the approaching six-tonne craft until it stopped 10 m from the Station. Working two joysticks, Shane moved Canadarm2 to grasp HTV-6 before berthed it at the Station’s Harmony module.

The six astronauts on the Space Station have already started unloading the four tonnes of supplies, including food, equipment and new batteries to store solar-generated electricity. The batteries will be installed next month during a spacewalk.

Old Men OThe West & Their 2022 Odyssey #18

File: 2023007-0627

At The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, England, United Kingdom, on Friday 23rd June 2023.

About the photograph.

On the left side of the photo, are two of the re-enactors dressed up as Second World War American soldiers, often nicknamed as GIs. There is also another re-enactor dressed as a GI, barely noticeable behind many of the guys seen on the right side of the photo.

The two on the left are seen carrying Thompson M1928A1 submachine guns, while the third one is almost hidden, therefore difficult to see what weapons he got.

The guys who are holding up their hands, are re-enactors dressed up as Second World War German soldiers. A common popular belief is that they’re called the Wehrmacht, but this is partial true.

Wehrmacht is a German word made up of wehren meaning “to defend” and Macht meaning “power or force” thus imply the meaning of “armed forces.”

Britische Wehrmacht mean British Armed Forces, therefore the German Wehrmacht would mean the whole of the German armed forces, therefore the whole of the German military.

They are correctly referred as the Heer, a German word meaning Army. A Heer soldier, or in German language (as far as I know) a Heer soldat.

The Wehrmacht is made up of the Heer (Army), the Kriegsmarine (navy), and the Luftwaffe (air force).

The action they are carrying out, is a re-enactment of the Americans capturing a group of German soldiers whom have surrendered.

In the far background, near the top of the photo, are what looked like three of the Tank Museum’s own staff, doing filming of the re-enactment action.

The photograph was shot in colour, but I converted it to black and white in Adobe Lightroom and cropped for a more dramatic action, and as homage to the WWII era where black and white photos are more common than colour photos.

About TANKFEST and The Tank Museum.

The Tank Museum is found next to the British Army military base, simply called Bovington Camp, and is used by various tank regiments.

The writer Rudyard Kipling once visited Bovington in 1923, and saw some damaged tanks left from the First World War. He recommended that a museum should be set up.

However the museum was simply a shed, and was not open to the public until about 1947, when the museum was finally set up.

By about 1982, the museum was expanded and modernized, it housed many various different tanks in the Exhibition halls, along with working tanks which are often show in the live action arena.

The museum also has the only working German Tiger I tank, known as Tiger 131.

TANKFEST is an annual live action re-enactment event showing off various working tanks in staged display, in the museum’s showground known as Kuwait Arena.

For more information, just Google “TANKFEST, The Tank Museum, Bovington.”

My paternal grandfather John Dawson served with RAF squadron 616 for four years in WW2. He was ground crew and isn't in this photograph but he did bring home with him after the war a small selection of photos taken during his time with the squadron.

It turns out that a the subject here was a bit of a celebrity. This photo which would have been taken in May 1945 depicts Messerschmitt Yellow 17 which was flown was flown by Lt Hans Dorn of 1-JG7. It was captured at Fassberg by No 616 Squadron RAF in May 1945. The aircraft was tested and given an RAF designation before being returned to England. It was later sold to Canada where it was scrapped. By the end of the war the Luftwaffe had quite the range of jet fighters, six in total, although probably only the Messerschmitt 262 was built in any numbers. I will write to the squadron archivists to see if they have more details and perhaps they might be able to recognise the crew.

Captured this radiant smile from Michela against the stunning backdrop of the Duomo di Milano. ❤️ The elegance of the cathedral perfectly matches her timeless beauty.

Milan’s iconic architecture and her warm smile—both are treasures to behold.

I'm captured and bound but I'm not complaining one bit....lol. I think i may enjoy it. A change of scenery is always good some days. Thanks to Cheeky, the accessories and shoes wasn't hard to find to fit the look. I went to the D23 Event and stopped by the Cheeky booth and found the exact items I was looking for. Cheeky released the Eye Mask! and Bound Legs! that are at D23 that I couldn't pass up. I knew I had to get them. Then I had to hit up Whore Courture Fair 8 before it ended to get the Jella Extreme High Heels! which brought the look to a whole new level. Ladies, If you're looking for THAT look, make sure you hit these events up and stop by the Cheeky booths!!!!!!!!!!! As always, happy shopping ladies☺

I took this on Schiermonnikoog, where aren't much lights, so you can see a lot of stars all the time.

I converted it to black and white because this way you can see much more stars and because I like black and white :)

More stars large on black.
