Every year, Bethany Collegeside, a retirement and assisted living facilty in Red Deer, has their special Day of Beauty event. 2019 is the third year that they have invited me to photograph their wonderful residents.

It's a veritable festival of volunteering, with amazingly talented hair stylists and makeup artists helping the women and men residing at Bethany to look and feel their best, as well as the volunteers who assist everyone to get in front of this old photographer's lens. So, a big shout out to MC College and Angel Faces Esthetics for all of their hard work. I know there are others, and if I've missed you let me know and I'll add you in!

Ann VanHemmen does a spectacular job ensuring that everything comes together, and that we are all caffeinated, hydrated, and fed.

Mike Wanini has very graciously come to assist me with the photography for two years now. From my conversations with Mike, I know I speak for him as well when I say that this "job" is entirely and wholeheartedly worth it. It is a wonderful, wonderful day.

This photo sums up a lot of it. If you average out the ages here and the number of hands, there is at least 2,300 cumulative years of touch in this image: preparing food, tousling hair, holding a child, shaking a hand, soothing a loved one. I think it speaks volumes.

Stephanie has also graced the studio on more than one occasion, so I knew that she had enough images to create a little collection of looks. Another one that I need to get back in here! via 500px ift.tt/2mfBih5

Headshot portraiture from The Great Scavenger Meetup 2017 The other component of the dynamic duo that actually got me to Vegas, got me to share my view of interacting with your subject, and ultimately got forty or so amazing scavengers in front of my lens, was THIS lovely lady. And I'll tell ya, she is JUST as emminently huggable as that spouse of hers!! via 500px ift.tt/2mHoY9u
