I was passing by a local river and had to stop and capture the beautiful sky. Calverton, NY

The Anniston Museum in Alabama has a pretty impressive display of taxidermied animals. I am hoping that all of them died of natural causes and that no one went out hunting for their collection. Anyway, it is all part of the natural history exhibit they have going on. As I walked through the wonderful display, I found this scene between two foxes, it was so adorable I had to capture it. Then once I got home I thought that it may be perfect for this week's Flickr Friday together.

This image was captured in RAW and processed with Linux using RawTherapee. I processed it with a match low ISO preset.

PHD2 Guiding.

All processing Pixinsight incl stacking (image integration)

This image is blended from SII, OIII and Ha filters using the PixelMath component in Pixinsight. The mix is to suit my own taste.

The SII has added Ha

The Ha as some OIII added

The OIII is on it's own

Thanks to Kayron at www.lightvortexastronomy.com for the wonderful tutorials.

I am very pleased with the detail of the data but I feel the stars do overpower and I would welcome any constructive criticism as to what I may be doing wrong (over exposure?) or can do to correct this in processing.

Dusty emission in the Tadpole nebula, IC 410, lies about 12,000 light-years away in the northern constellation Auriga. The cloud of glowing gas is over 100 light-years across, sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from embedded open star cluster NGC 1893. Formed in the interstellar cloud a mere 4 million years ago, bright cluster stars are seen all around the star-forming nebula. Notable near the image center are two relatively dense streamers of material trailing away from the nebula's central regions. Potentially sites of ongoing star formation in IC 410, these cosmic tadpole shapes are about 10 light-years long.

I marked a box where the frog is ... poor thing ;)

I had to wake up at 6 am (durring my Christmas holidays) to get this shot. I found this bottle on the beach nearby my home and just loved the sunrise through the bottle.... I'm missing all this here in London..

Artists Statement:

This painting captures a fleeting moment in early winter, where the landscape is transformed by the low, golden light that bathes the scene. The curving river bank, gently blanketed in snow, is outlined on the one side by trees whose tops glow with the warm hues of the rising sun. Painted in a high-key fashion, the work employs soft, coarse horizontal strokes for the water and a smoothness to evoke the feel of the flat white snowy fields, while the water—rich in greys, reds, and pale purples—reflects the cold light and the dark reflections of the trees, creating an interplay of warmth and chill.

The overall composition is designed to feel ephemeral, as the edges of the scene gradually fade into the surrounding whiteness of the snow, giving the viewer a sense of both the vastness and quiet intimacy of winter. The trees, though delicate in their soft brushwork, stand resilient against the cold, their glowing tops providing a gentle contrast to the more muted colours of the water and the snow.

In this piece, I sought to explore the subtle beauty of winter’s transitional moments, where the harshness of the season meets the fragile warmth of light. The interplay of colour and light, combined with the fading edges, speaks to the transient nature of time—how moments of clarity are often fleeting, but nonetheless beautiful in their impermanence.

My daughter standing near the waters edge taking a photo of the sun setting over the outer harbor.

Nope, this has not been photoshoped.

The photo is a foggy morning scene of the main Belgrade’s street. I was attracted by the misty atmosphere of the street. Talking about framing the problem was how to incorporate power lines until the moment I realized that the sky was actually captured by power lines...Hence the name captured sky
