Playing with items found in my kitchen is a wonderful way to dive into macro photography. I found myself thinking about the lyrics of the song, America the Beautiful. This is my version of purple mountain majesties, with a splash of pink and yellow. "The force that propels the human spirit on the clear way forward and upward is the abstract spirit."

Previously unpublished archive shot from July 2018. Directly behind me was a gathering of far right extremists and a counter rally of anti-fascists. Needless to say there was a large police presence and a lot going on. I wonder what this guy was capturing.

Ice dunes on the Lake Michigan shoreline became pretty cliche this winter, and photographs of photographers are always cliche. But with the warm weather that we’ve been having lately, the dunes, at least, will soon become a thing of the past…for a while anyway. :-)
