Here's an image captured last September when an early snow storm blanketed these aspen trees. The overall feeling was of a painting, hence the name. I'm happy to announce this image was recently accepted for publication on the curated website, 1x.com.
Personal: a new job and no vacation + drought conditions here in California have left little opportunity for photography. Can't wait to get back into the fields again!

I had such a beautiful day today, a day I wish never ended. My wife and I decided to drive up the the lake district (Bowness), an hour or so walking and enjoying the rain free (but cold) scenery and then a quick stop for coffee (gingerbread Latte, nice!) and finally some photography. I love nature, I love photography and I love spending time with my wife, such a beautiful day. Enjoy your week.

Time to leave the Ducks for the time being , and to enjoy a few days away at the Sandcastle Motel at Peka Peka...
Peka Peka... a very lightly populated district on the Kapiti Coast about 8 kilometres north of Waikanae on the lower North Island's West coast...
We arrived at the motel just in time to watch God complete a glorious canvas brimming with Reds, Oranges and Yellows as the sun quietly sank into the Tasman Sea...
What a start to a short holiday...!
Just a Canvas update. Several people kept commenting thinking that he was female, so I broadened the shoulder armor. Also the arms are simplified, mores sturdy overall.
This photo reminds me of a painter, using a variety of colors to fill the canvas. All colors are different, bright and unique. Just like people.
This playa in the Mojave Desert is a natural canvas on which hydrological forces paint intricate works of art in earth tones. See my dendrites tag for examples.
I hiked out to the middle to explore a new section I expected to have subtle brown shades. I was surprised to find large black areas with abrupt edges.
Unfortunately for photographers like me, certain wild characters like to drive dirt bikes and jeeps on the canvas. Dodging their tracks, which can persist for years, makes my work more challenging.
