Stopping for lunch on Canoe Lake - Algonquin Park. Tom Thomson (a famous Canadian painter) died on this lake in 1917. His work influenced the painters that went on to form The Group of Seven. At the north end of the lake there is totem pole and memorial cairn in his name.
A half day canoeing trip at my mothers summercabin. Just love to glide through the water in complete silence and to have this endless forest as my only companion along the journey.
Amazing canoe sculpture in Steelville, MO. Beautiful and so original. I almost missed it passing through town, but caught a glimpse of it briefly and turned around. What a sight! You never know what you will find in the most remote places. Enjoy the world friends. It will always be full of surprises.

I just wanted to experiment with cropping the top half the sky and having most of the reflections as the focal point. I'm not sure if it works super well with this photo - i think there is no real good focal point... though i do like the idea that the posts and chains are floating in the air.
I might experiment more with this sort of framing
I just loved the tranquility of these canoes with the reflection, part of the feeling coming from the entire atmosphere of this beautiful place.
"What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature."

The Canadian Shield, also called the Laurentian Plateau, or Bouclier canadien, is a large area of exposed Precambrian igneous and high-grade metamorphic rocks that forms the ancient geological core of the North American continent
Rental canoes are lined up waiting for the start of boating season at Black Hills Regional Park, Boyds, Maryland. We are experiencing unusually warm weather. This was the first time I ever received a mosquito bite in February in Maryland.
Thank you for your visit, I hope you enjoy the view!
Taken from the Monte Rio Bridge overlooking the Russian River during the heat of the day before the fireworks. Too hot for us to hang around.
Cliche - Holiday. Happy Cliche Saturday, everyone!
As I was looking through old photos I'd taken I started to look at the negatives instead of my prints and found there were a large number I didn't have prints of (or gave away). Makes me wonder how many other shots I have that I have forgotten about. Probably taken during high school years in the mid-90s
These were shot at an Explorer canoe race held in north central Arkansas along the White River.
