After almost getting knocked over by the waves coming in I moved away from the waters edge and liked this composition of the Canoe Pool. The sun didn't stick around long but it was good while it was out.

No HDR, just filters, in the middle of nowhere.

Morning at Waikiki beach

Our canoe is loaded with tent, backpacks, coolers, and gear for a week-long trip into a million acres of true wilderness.

What better way to finish off my amazing birthday weekend than with a stunner of a Vermont sunset? What made this photo even better was the canoe someone left behind on the beach. The moment I saw it, I knew it had to be part of my composition.

In other news, I'm incredibly excited for this upcoming long weekend. It's a new moon, which means this will be the best (and also probably last) weekend to see the juiciest part of the Milky Way in the northern Hemisphere (before it goes into hiding in the southern hemisphere until next spring). Weather looks clear, so I know what I will be doing this weekend. :)

As you can probably tell, I'm kind of on a pinhole kick :) A canoe, gliding through the trees on the Rock River, captured with a Pinwide 11mm pinhole lens mounted on my Sony A7S II with a Fotodiox MFT to E-mount lens adapter.

Chicago River facing east. Great weather brought out the masses. Canoes and smaller craft tend to cling to the sides to allow for the larger tour boats.

The Canoe Lake wasn't that crowded with people, but as for birds!!

A canoe rests on a sandy bank of the Manistee River in Michigan.

In the summer of 2001 I went on a canoe trip down the Manistee River in the Northern part of the thumb of Michigan.

Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2001.

This is one of several canoes tethered at various spots along the Matapedia Valley in Quebec. Fishing for Atlantic Salmon is a huge sport in this region and there is a system of canoes that sit ready at these spots for people who want to rent them. The valley runs through the Chic Choc Mountains in the southwest region of the Gaspe Peninsula.

On Hoople Bay plus St. Lawrence River at 7:00PM. The sunset fully dropping at 7:15PM. Lots of clouds such that the sun won’t be viewed at the bottom sunset 7:15PM. Mild wind creating reflections ripples on the water that reflects the colour on the top of the river.

Below, the actual sunset at 7:30, not viewed due to clouds on the bottom but some cloud opening above as viewed…..

I've shot these a bunch over the years. They hardly ever seem to get rented. I don't think I've ever posted a picture of them to Flickr, so here you go.

We saw this canoe while finishing our walk around the lake. Looked like a great photo op.

A B&W conversion of an image taken a couple of months ago at the Canoe Pool, Newcastle; NSW; Australia.

Long exposure using my Lee Big Stopper then converted using Nik's Silver Efex and CS6.

Hope you have a great day - thanks for any comment or favorite to this or any of my other images - much appreciated!!

It's September 9th 2021 and "New Canoe Day" in the Adirondacks.

Went for a drive to Quetico Provincial Park yesterday, I have never been there before. There is a lot of snow and ice so not able to tackle most trails here. I did get in one hike and a walk on the beach. I found this canoe close to the beach, I am sure it is on display to demonstrate the canoes used to portage in this area.

This is a beautiful park and I will be back to do some trails later in the year. I love discovering new parks.

Doing a second, but mini-upload from the Calgary and Banff trip this weekend.

Moraine Lake has a canoe-rental service. We were on a coach tour so didn't have the time to try it, plus neither mother nor I can swim.

My trip out in the wilderness of the Manchac Swamps. It's my favorite time of the year (Summer), lots of peace and tranquility in the swamps.

Here are a couple more from my morning down in the swamp. Caddo Lake, Texas...

Normally I hate having people in my landscape photos, but I really liked the sense of scale this family in the canoe adds.

When canoeing down in the bayou, it is really a good idea to go as a family. There are a lot of alligators out there so going alone can be dangerous. If you have your family along and encounter an alligator, you can just throw them one of the kids This usually satisfies them, thus preventing an attack.
