If you travel through upwards from New Mexico into Colorado up US HWY 285, you will pass through a small town called Antonito. There, off the main road, you'll see a rather peculiar structure. A castle hand built over the past 35 years at the time of this photo. I imagine it's parts are still being added. The gentleman erecting this unique altar to God is called Cano. A homage to his surviving the Vietnam war. This past January, a fire enveloped a large part of the buildings. Luckily the steeples were saved without damage. I was going through my photos and had forgotten I had taken this. Abdülhamit'in tahta çıkışının 25. yılı için 1901'de Sadrazam Mehmet Said Paşa tarafından Alman Konsolosluk binasını yapan mimar Raymond Charles Péré tarafından yaptırılan kule 25 metre boyunda olup, dairesel esas etrafında dört çeşmesi vardır ve kolonlar Kuzey Afrika temasını esinlendirir. Kulenin saati Alman İmparatoru II. Wilhelm'in hediyesidir. Saat kurulduğu günden bu yana yalnızca bir kere durmuştur. 5.2 şiddetindeki 1974 İzmir Depremi sırasında hasar alan kulenin saat kadranları üzerindeki son kat yıkılmış ve saat depremin oluş saati olan 02:04'te durmuştur. İki yıl içerisindeyse kule onarılmış ve saat tekrar çalışır vaziyete getirilmiştir.
Kulenin üzerindeki Osmanlı tuğrası ve Osmanlı'ya ait işaretler daha sonra kaldırılmıştır. Verilmek istenen mesaj sanatın genç cumhuriyet ile başladığı hissini vermektir.
