A picture from this fall... I am trying to learn to love color. The "castle" is on a semi rural street in semi-rural Antonito Colorado. It is clearly a bit above and beyond the normal places in the neighborhood.
The freighter MV Cano was moored at Rensselear. The cargo holds were open. I understand navigating this far up the Hudson River has been a challenge this year on account of ice.
Photographed using a Nikor 75-300mm zoom lens on a Sony A7R.

Our canoe turned up and a view from the cottage along shore, Lake Louisa. During a recent windstorm the top of a tree fell on the right, fortunately nothing was damaged.
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Vago sem rumo,
Navego à deriva
Fico à toa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Ora sou mar,
Ora sou rio
Ora lagoa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Buscando seu porto
E dos meus olhos
A tristeza me escoa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Abandonada no tempo
Esquecida ao vento
Vivo sob a garoa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Distraindo a paisagem
Atenta ao canto
Que o pássaro entoa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Chamando seu nome
Ouço apenas meu grito
Que perdido ecoa
Tem dias que amanheço canoa
Sigo em frente
Deixo a via pra trás
Por mais que me doa (Ma Antunes)

Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Serrania de la Macarena, province of Meta
The blossom of a unique species of plant that lines the river floor called Macarenia clavigera turns a brilliant red.
One of the most beautifeull rivers in the world.
Before I went to Cano Cristales in Colombia, I had no idea that there was a section of the river that had thick, bright green algae and so it was a bit of a bonus that I got a few shots that I liked in this section.
You may be looking at this shot and think that it was pretty straight forward to get, but I'd like to tell you a little about why it was more challenging than it looks and what I did to solve the problems.
First off, in order for the greens/yellows to pop, I had to take the picture when there was a certain amount of sun light on the river (rather than full shade from the clouds which would have made for a more balanced over-all exposure).
The problem that arose with the sun light being on the river, however, was that all the white parts on the rock were over exposed (after taking a proper exposure of the greens in the river).
The next issue with the sun being out was that it created fairly harsh shadows and so that had to be dealt with by taking yet another exposure.
The end result was that I took three different exposures and then meticulously blended them together (manually) in PS. It was far more time consuming than what one might imagine but I'm happy with the results, which in turn makes it worth the time.
