Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Serrania de la Macarena, province of Meta
The blossom of a unique species of plant that lines the river floor called Macarenia clavigera turns a brilliant red.
One of the most beautifeull rivers in the world.

Waterfalls abound around Cano Cristales, and even those waterways which don't have the endemic Macarenia clavigera plant, worn sedimentary rock provides a wonderful variety of colours and patterns.

As canoas são embarcações monóxilas, ou seja, feitas a partir de um único tronco de madeira escavado. Junto com as balsas, são as mais antigas embarcações utilizadas pelo homem. Intimamente relacionadas à invenção da navegação, existiram em todos os continentes e foram utilizadas por praticamente todos os povos primitivos. Aparentemente toscas, sobrevivem há milênios graças à facilidade construtiva e ao seu poder de se moldar às necessidades.
