Camp sites are elevated on these wooden platforms and the tent is tied down with ropes. Not a bad view from the tent either!
A man, cutting cherry tomatos on the "Campo Dè Fiori" market in Rome on an overcast monday morning.
I think I take a picture of this camp every time I pass it. Oak Bayou. Mobile-Tensaw Delta

This guy is the extent of the wildlife that we saw in Algonquin Park on this camping trip. No moose, bears or beavers just this little frog.
A real photo postcard by Darge of Melbourne of the Broadmeadows Army Camp at the start of World War I. The inscription the back reads:
"A. Coy. 5th Battalion
Broadmeadows Camp
Dear Master John,
It was very kind of you to send me such kind wishes, and I hope when I return to see you grown quite a big boy.
Yours sincerely,
Char. B. Taylor"
A newspaper clipping with the postcard makes clear that this was Charles Bowmont Taylor (1885-1970), the son of an orchardist from Axe Creek / Longlea near Bendigo. Taylor was at Broadmeadows in August 1914 and later saw service in the Dardanelles. He served on the Western Front as a commissioned officer, rising to the rank of Captain and Honourary Major. Charles Bowmont Taylor was awarded the Military Cross in 1917 for his work in providing hot food to troops on the Somme, involving an invention of his own known as the C. B. Taylor Hot Box. Taylor survived the war, and passed away at Heidelberg, Melbourne, in 1970.
On 7th January 2019 this image and appended information was donated to the collection of the Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute.
Relaxing rather than really camping. Just a simple set-up in Wentwood to allow me to relax in the evening. Hammock chair and tarp kit fits in a small haversack. Add a big thick wool blanket for warmth due to the strong wind. Bliss
I think by this time we had the morning coffee routine down to an art. A certain sister had to have her coffee AS SOON as she woke up. The good sister tried to supply her with her caffeine fix in a timely manner and to that end, often woke early to get the coffee going.
We decided to go for a quick swim while waiting for the chicken to slowly cook. Patrick and Victor went to buy more beer, only to find that we were in a dry county.
Joannes family went camping in Colorado many times - this is a the classic American Campsite!
Help me with the date - what year is the car?
Update -August 20-2012
Car appears to be a 70/71 Pontiac Catalina Wagon. Joanne reports it was the flower car from a funeral home and they went all over Missouri and Colorado in it - got a lot of looks!

- www.kevin-palmer.com - After snowshoeing 4 miles, I setup camp here at the base of Black Mountain. Since I've been here before I knew it would make a good campsite sheltered from the wind and right next to a small creek. The temperature dropped to 0°F this night but I stayed warm.
