Caesar’s Fountain
After the escape room, we took a cab to the Forum at Caesar’s Palace to do some window shopping. What an enormous mall! Three levels with multiple off-shoots, we wandered for about an hour then walked back to our hotel. I got this cute shot of Jenny and Wyatt in front of one of the fountains. There were a few times I regretted not bringing my professional camera but I was grateful to not have to lug it around.

One of the better Caesar salads I've had. Hooray for J.B. Dawson's.
The classic "Caesar Salad":
1. Lots of Romaine lettuce
2. (Optional) throw in a raw egg (it helps the other stuff stick to the lettuce.
3. Mix in a small bowel: a large teaspoonful of Coleman's Dry Mustard, the juice of 2-3 lemons, anchovie paste (or minced anchovies), enough grated parmasian cheese to make the mixture NOT too soupy
4. Toast 2-3 slices of thick white bread in a pan whose bottom is covered in olive oil; turn bread when totally toasted on each side. Dry on paper towels and cube with a sharp knife.
5. Add the mustard/lemon-juice/anchovie-paste/parmesian- cheese to the Romaine and mix thoroughly.
6. Add lots of ground pepper (do NOT use the already-ground kind)
7. Mix again.
8. Add the toasted bread crumbs. Do not mix. Let people help themselves.
9. (Optional) If you're a big anchovie-lover (as I am), you may want to add some anchovie fillets to the mixture (before #8).
C. Julius Caesar, † 44 v. Chr
AV-Aureus, 45 v. Chr., Rom, L. Munatius Plancus; 7,86 g. Drapierte Büste der Victoria r.//Capis. Bab. 18; BMC 4122; Calico 44 a; Crawf. 475/1 b; Sear 60 a; Syd. 1019 b.
Julius Caesar is buried here, in the heart of the Roman Forum. Every day people continue to throw flowers on his grave.
ANCIENT ROMAN IMPERATORIAL AND IMPERIAL SILVER COINS, Augustus (27 BC - AD 14), Denarius, uncertain mint, 17 BC, CAESAR, young bare head (of Gaius Caesar?) right, all within oak-wreath, rev AVG-VST, ornamented candelabrum, all within floral wreath decorated with bucrania and paterae, 3.87g (RIC 540; BMC 684; RCV 1749). Beautiful old cabinet tone with slight iridescence, a little wear on highest point of obverse, otherwise extremely fine, a very attractive example. bought for £4/15/- Augustus adopted his grandsons Gaius and Lucius Caesar in 17 BC, marking his intention to include them both in his plans for the succession. The portrait on the obverse of this coin, taken with the legend ‘CAESAR’ appearing below it, has traditionally been identified as that of Gaius, but more recent thinking has attributed it to that of a youthful portrait of Augustus himself. The precise identification remains unclear.

One of Tidewater Pie's other Little Caesars locations on the Peninsula is this one in Newport News, serving the southern end of the city. They took over this old Burger Chef building, which has been gutted and reused as several other businesses since the 1970s but still retains its' peaked roofline. And when you go inside the lobby the angled steel support beams, such as the one in this very photo, are still in place as well!
