This photo was taken in Arizona several years ago. I love cactus blossoms!

We flew into Phoenix and spent the night before picking up the RV and then visiting relatives. On June 14 we drove south and visited the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. The owl, roadrunner and the cats were captives. It was HOT- 110 degrees, and the light was intense, presenting problems with exposure and white balance. Visit rosy-finch.blogspot.com

At the Desert Gardens at Cactustown will find Cactus, Yuccas, Agaves, Ocotillo, Accent Plants, Desert Trees and Shrubs, Palm Trees, Aloes and Succulents, Desert Woods, Rocks and Minerals, and Dish Gardens. Also located at Cactustown is The Western Preserve, a Pickers paradise, with antiques, Western memorabilia, primitives, old implements and old rusty crusty... along with 1800's wagons, oxen yokes, old Coca Cola, claw foot bathtubs, old saddles, branding irons, bits, chaps, horse hanes & collars, plow discs & cultivator blades, old bottles, Western art, and wagon wheels along with many other treasures and memories of yesteryear to ponder over. Open limited hours on the weekend, Thursday & Friday 8a -12 noon, and on Saturday from 8a - 3p. Meeting the owner, Cactus Mike, was a special treat and he was so very helpful, interesting, and informative giving us a tour of the gardens and telling us about the marvelous desert plants and all the activity going on around Cactustown. He is building, doing most of the work himself, a B&B lodge with thick walls and wonderful architectural designs with American Indian influence. It is a work in progress along with other additions coming to Cactustown, such as the Cactustown Trading Company. He was visiting with us while also waiting on customers buying cactus and desert plants. We appreciated his expressing his gratitude for the blessing of rain the day before and taking time to share with us his beautiful Cactustown plants and his dreams... I have no doubt he will see them accomplished... so if you are ever near San Angelo, Texas on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays plan to make a stop and visit Cactus Mike and his beautiful very interesting Cactustown and savor a taste of the "Old West" and a very warm Texas welcome!!!
