A coffee stop on my bus trip to Victoria - the building on the right is the "Cable Cafe", which is a steel frame with dirty great steel cable wrapped around it for walls.
These were knit from a Hello Yarn pattern called Cable Twist Socks, from SweetGeorgia Yarns Superwash Sock in Moss. They were an absolute joy to knit, from the pattern to the yarn. I especially like the ease with which this pattern can be adjusted to get the right size around the leg.

Completed in 1995, the Le Pont de Normandie is a cable-stayed bridge that connects Honfleur and Le Havre, France. The main span is 2800 feet long and 165 feet above the water level. At the time of completion this was the world's longest cable-stayed bridge. The Le Pont de Normandie had beaten the record held by the Skarnsundet bridge of 1740 feet set in 1991, and the Quingzhou Minjang bridge built in China in 1996. However the world's record today is held by the Tartara bridge in Hiroshima, Japan which was completed in 1998.
We’re getting Comcast in for our internet access at the office. Part of this process includes running the fiber into the building. To do so, Comcast has to run something in the range of a half-mile work of fiber from our office. So this afternoon we have a big roll of cable parked out back and they’ve placed a pullley on one of the poles. Within a few hours I’d expect we’d see the crew back and actually pulling the cable.
