Cable Cottage(?), Firemore
Described by some locals as having been the Transatlantic cable terminal but SCOTICE came ashore in Gairloch.
This would seem to be the terminal of the 1872 cable to Stornoway.

Lime green cable hoodie I knit a while ago. Pattern was called Central Park in Knitscene I believe. Good warm under-the-weather wear
The locally produced wool was slightly itchy, so I knit in a cashmere/merino liner (left over from Halfdome hats)

A cable car going down Hyde Street. Cable cars run by grabbing onto a cable which runs through a groove beneath the car (it's the middle line running under the car, between the two tracks.) The cables are very long loops which are driven by a power station at one end of the track. When the cable cars were introduced in the 19th century, this mechanism was the only way to get a trolley car up and down San Francisco's steep hills. Almost all the routes have since been replaced by electric streetcar or bus routes; three routes remain, that are mostly travelled by tourists.

The Bandra East-West crossing bridge was under construction all the time I was there (six months), and these cable pipes used to be exposed all the while.

Not so sure I suit this style of hat but I HAD to knit it anyway.
You'd think I have enough Stereo cables lying around. But not true! I'm always having to end up using this one cable that's 50 feet long for connecting stuff that are sitting just next to each other.. What a pain the ass it is trying to wrangle that thing. Now I have these two shorter cables a 6ft and 12ft.
I must have either given away or someone stole my other audio cables. errrr!

The cable crank on Chatham's Mitchell River Bridge. An antique wooden drawbridge in Chatham, MA. The bridge is currently in need of repair and is slated to be replaced by a modern drawbridge. Activists are trying to save the old bridge. It's the last wooden drawbridge in Massachusetts, and worth holding onto. More on the bridge is here: Mitchell River Bridge News Article
