Whitaker Cable is an old Kansas City company ... one of my best friends as a young girl in Northern California was a Whitaker. Her father, heir to the Whitaker fortune and company presidency, was tragically killed in an auto accident when she was still an infant.
For me! My own pattern, although I'm sure tons of people have used this two-stitch cable on socks before. Knit with Socks that Rock.

Yarn: Elle sock wool - light grey.
"Twine" cable squares pattern from 100 Afghan Squares to Knit by Debbie Abrahams. Knit in Plymouth Yarn's Encore 25% wool 75% acrylic. Knit late spring 2006.
When I decided to start knitting, I wanted to make something useful. I wanted something with pieces I could finish and be proud of, but that would really be something special when I was done. So I decided on a blanket. Crazy, perhaps, but I bought 16 skeins of yarn.
I took a whole bunch of pictures from the cable car, but I was squashed in the middle, so they were all pretty shit. There were better views of similar shit from the top, anyway ^^;
Cable car 15 leaves the Barn for its inagural run. The original 15 was built in 1894 and retired a few years ago and would have been painted in the same color scheme used 1894-1902 by the original Market Street Railway Company.
I've never had a chance to go up to the Big Buddha by cable car. Too busy and long line ups have put me off. With recent events, it has been easier to check out the tourist sights.
