A far view of the cable car station near the Narikala fortress in Tbilisi. There are two cars tha that operate up and down, and the ride takes about two minutes each way. My driver-guide (the old man in the foreground) urged me to go take a ride while he cooled his heels somewhat. He helped me buy a two-way token and I was on my way. Opened in 2012, the cable car connects Rike Park on the left bank of the Mtkvari river down the hill with Narikala Fortress up here. For only 1 Lari you can kill two birds with one stone – gaze at the fantastic 360-degree views of the city from the large windows of the car and have an easy ride to the top of the hill. Emirates Air Line is a Transport for London gondola lift cable car link across the River Thames in London that is planned to be built with sponsorship from the air carrier Emirates. It is expected to open in the summer of 2012, though not before the 2012 London Olympics.[1][2][3]
The scheme, announced in July 2010, comprises a 1 km (0.62 mi) cable car line that crosses the river from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks. The project, estimated to cost £60 million, began construction in August 2011.[4] The cable car is to be based on Monocable Detachable Gondola (MDG) technology, a system which uses a single cable for both propulsion and support, such as that used on the Caracas Aerial Tramway. The MDG system is reportedly cheaper and quicker to install than a more complex three-cable system which would allow for larger-capacity cars.[5]
The Powered Fiber Cable System improves speed and simplifies installation, powering, and communication of network devices – at 30x the distance of traditional CAT cable systems. Deployment of HD cameras, Wi-Fi access points, optical network terminals, small cells, and other network-access devices can be challenging, especially in outdoor environments. Many of these devices accept a PoE input for power and communications, but distance limitations, power availability, and device placement throw a wrench in network planning.
An overshoot grist mill was built in 1868 by John P. Cable.
John P. Cable built his grist mill in Cades Cove. He was a descendent of Peter Cable, a Pennsylvania Dutch farmer who had arrived in the area in the 1820s and designed an elaborate system to drain the swampy lands located in the western part of the cove.
John Cable was the only person in Cades Cove to use an overshot water wheel, a gravity wheel which harnesses the force of gravity acting vertically on the water as it travels from the top to the bottom of the wheel. Cable Mill's power was supplied by Mill Creek, although a connecting channel was dug to Forge Creek so the mill could tap both streams when water levels were low.
Cable Mill took double advantage of its waterwheel by using it to power saw mills as well. This revolutionized the way homes were built in the cove, as people switched from using logs to lumber and frame construction. The Gregg Cable house still stands as an example of a frame built house in Cades Cove.

Sections of cable were vandalized and stolen from the A line south of Howard Beach late in the evening of Tue., May 26, 2015. The 2300 A from Far Rockaway to 207 St. lost power.

Video cables for a Canon Powershot A650IS (top) and a Canon EOS T2i (bottom). Both were terminated with 3-pin servo-style connectors. The video transmitter has a mating 3-pin connector, so either camera can be plugged into the same transmitter.

YAB was invited to go down to Idiosynphonic's event at Cable. The night was amazing, Document One, Skism and FuntCase played on the night. Unfortunately, I left early because of work the following day, but If you were there before 1:30am, you might be in the pictures!
We couldn't have possibly asked for a better Half Dome experience. Our guide had us on the trail at 4:30am hoping to beat the crowds. We were concerned on our way there as we could see that there were already several people on the cables (visible with their headlamps assisting their ascent), so we began to worry that we would be greeted by large crowds.
Starting up the Sub Dome as the sun was rising behind us was an incredible experience. While there were a fair amount of people there when we first arrived, by the time we reached the summit, we were the only 6 people on the entirety of Half Dome - for over an hour!
We were also the only people coming down the cables which helped make the descent much more relaxing and enjoyable. Pictured here is the next group of people getting ready to start heading up the cables. We hung around for a while and basked in the glory of our victory before heading back to camp to pack up and hike to our campsite in Little Yosemite Valley.

I'm making a hardy attempt to learn how to knit two socks and one time on two circular needles. Along with all the cabling... this is turning out to be an at-home-only project. Oh yeah, I'm cabling without a cable needle so occasionally my hands really hurt if I don't keep my tension loose enough. :)
