「グランジ」で有名なペンフォールズ。サントリーが扱っているだけあって、入手し易い銘柄だ。このクヌンガ・ヒルのシラーズ/カベルネは、パーカーから「Australia's Greatest Wine Bargains For Less Than $12（$12以下のお買い得オーストラリアワイン）」にもリストアップされる、コストパフォーマンスの高いワインとして知られる。
前回飲んだPrivate Binは外れだったが、これはペンフォールズらしい味わいだった。ベリー系の果実味が全面に出ていて、シラーズらしいペッパーのニュアンスも感じられる。酸味、渋みもたっぷりあって、とにかく「パワフル」なワイン。その分、若干飲みにくい感もあるが、「濃い」ワインを飲みたい気分の時におすすめだ。

Fresno State general viticulture 101 students harvested Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and recorded yield data in the campus vineyard as part of a yield mapping experiment. Students were assigned equidistant points on a fishnet grid, and counted numbers of plants and clusters to decide the yield for a certain vine and determining variability. It was the first time that exercised was conducted by the class in the vineyard by new faculty member Dr. Luca Brillante and will allow for comparisons in the future.
