I'm in the south of France at the moment, and I'm just in time to catch this year's vintage ripening off in the autumn sunshine. They have already begun to harvest the grapes round here, but this venerable old Cabernet Sauvignon vine is still fully loaded.

TGIF to all my dear Flickr friends. Thank you for the compliments & faves, your friendship, humour and inspiration. Have a great weekend!

...and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Instead of watching the new Star Wars movie, I had reactivated my Netflix account so that I could catch that Jessica Jones series.

Saludos!

A gift from my immediate superior (my boss), “promoted" to another hospital. After two years and a half of watching my back, and something farther South, she is finally leaving. No more senseless orders, flowing from a deep lack of experience (the boss, if wrong, always can order again). No more yearly evaluations emphasizing minute errors, and downplaying good results. A month before her deeply felt departure (yeah right….), she gave me a last evaluation, full of “excellents”. A last meeting to smooth roughness (hers, I guess), and be friends (now??)……… And this bottle of wine. I had already examined the cork and the leaded capping; there are no signs of hypodermic needles. A bottle’s body Transilluminator examination was negative for floating solid matter (like shit or so….), and the harvest seems to be good. Nevertheless, I am still torn between drinking it, or give it as a gift to some shipyard, for use on the baptism of their newest ship. What would you do?.....

Regards!

My annual journey to make wine always starts here.

Three weeks later they were starting to show leaves, and the apple and pear trees were blooming!

Colosseum is burning! (oops Nero is here, yet?)

A plate of pasta with zucchini and cheese € 4.00 ...with Mastercard.

Drinking with your best friend a bottle of Cabernet-Sauvignon € 7.00 ...with Mastercard.

A ticket to get to the Colosseum by underground: € 1.00 ...with Mastercard

Success to take a night photo to the most beautiful monument in the world, without a tripod and in a state of alcohol and succeeding (despite all) to keep a steady hand for the duration of exposure: IS PRICELESS! :)

There are things that you can not buy... for everything else there's Mastercard!

You are supposed to be able to tell each grape varietal apart from the notch in the leaf.

For now, I'll defer to the signs posted at the end of the rows.

(EN) Cordón del Plata is a cordillera cordillerana of the Argentine Andes, located entirely in the province of Mendoza, that forms part of the Frontal Cordillera.

With summits of great importance (from 4000 to 5000 masl) is the most colorful part of the mountain range. It can be easily seen from all the north center of the province. From there are born important water courses like Los Arroyos de las Mulas, El Salto, Vallecitos and the Blanco River.

Cordón del Plata, along with the last foothills of the Precordillera, originates longitudinal valleys of high altitude, where it favors the condensation of humidity, creating microclimates, as in the area of La Carrera (Tupungato), where it is feasible to cultivate potatoes and a wide variety of red grapes, like the very well known, Malbec.
