From label:
"..express rich, dark currant and cassis flavors with background notes of black cherry and spice. Embellishes by French oak, the finish is long and smooth and leaves you wanting more. In a class that usually prefers to strike an exclusive pose.."

Not bad, one of my parents regular bottles. The price is fairly cheap but the taste isn't. This bottle has more of a tart finish, and a bit dryer. This would go great with a steak with out interfering with the seasoning.
Fresno State general viticulture 101 students harvested Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and recorded yield data in the campus vineyard as part of a yield mapping experiment. Students were assigned equidistant points on a fishnet grid, and counted numbers of plants and clusters to decide the yield for a certain vine and determining variability. It was the first time that exercised was conducted by the class in the vineyard by new faculty member Dr. Luca Brillante and will allow for comparisons in the future. The grapes will crushed and used for a wine-making class. 2018, photo by Geoff Thurner, Copyright 2018.

A pretty good look at one of the vines... The picture is a little blown-out, but you can see the canopy and the fruit zone. The image was captured 10 Aug 11.

I'm trying to picture him sipping cabernet, with 3 or 4 cheeseburgers as the main course, maybe a banana sandwich thrown in for good measure.
Penfolds Private Release 2007 Shiraz Cabernet. Smooth, plummy, low oak and tannins, slight spiciness. Very nice.

The last heat wave of the picking season was hitting the Napa Valley at the time I took these shots.
Temperature: 96 degrees fahrenheit, 35.5 Celsius
Clear blue skies with hardly any wind.
The temperature will be hotter the next two or three days.
And on the the evening of the final hot day the Cabernet grapes will be picked all night long through the next morning for the Big Crush.
I can taste it already!
