Just a little play after dinner and a couple of glasses of the wine in the image - Hand held, minimal adjusting, otherwise straight out of the camera.

Rich, aromatic dark fruits and baking spices delight the nose, yielding fresh plum and blackberry fruit, violet, dried fig, vanilla bean and Chinese Five-Spice. The wine is juicy with the plum and blackberry flavors prominent, layered with smoky and sappy maple wood, roasted almonds and hazelnuts, finishing long with fine, firm tannins.

Lush Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on the vine at Domaine de Thermes near Auvillar. These are the last to be harvested here - the hot dry summer has advanced the picking by a few weeks, and these last remaining will be picked by hand on Wednesday. This domaine is a small family run farm where they do everything themselves with the help of friends and neighbors. The appellation is a VDQS named Côtes du Brûlhois, typically a deep red-black in color, tannic in the first years, and able to stand 10-15 years in the bottle. The finished product is a mix of cab sauv, tannat, fer servadou and côt, sometimes cabernet franc as well. I love that we know the people who make the wine we drink.

A cabernet sauvignon from Fleurieu in South Australia. I bought it because I needed to refill my wine collection and I thought the label looked pretty (or whatever the manly equivalent of pretty is)

A little out of focus (I wish I could say it was the wine talking!) - but this 95 point Cab Sav was awesome. Paired with couple of ribeyes from Whole Foods tonight, a spectacular combination. This wine came up for consumption, after a good friend was sorting through his wine cellar and found he had almost a case of this juice lying around!
