This Buzz Lightyear Toy Story theme cake was created for Jordan who was turning 4 years old. I have seen the design elements from other bakers but don't recall their names to give proper credit. The Buzz Lighyear was made from modeling chocolate and gumpaste.

Carol and I ran on down to Disneyland just for kicks. Well, really we went because neither of us had been since December and this week was the last week of "Peak" hours until summer.

We didn't have a plan other than to get away from the cares of her busy and slightly depressing April.

Me, on the other hand: I had a new lens to take for a walk.

After struggling to get to the park (we thought taking surface streets would be faster than Angel's related traffic... not true), and then, once we got in, we struggled to decide what to eat for dinner.

We settled on the newly refitted River Belle Terrace (in the wedge between Adventureland and Fronteirland, just west of the Stagecoach): it's now an expensive sandwich place. Don't get me wrong, my Tennessee BBQ Pork sandwich was tasty: just wasn't very filling. Though they did offer the plate (sandwich with beans and a quarter-spear dill pickle) with a free salad/fruit side (I choose lentil bean salad because... well, I'd never had it before), I was still a bit famished. Mental note for later: buy popcorn.

So we just chilled: walked around looking for prime photo opps in the waning sunlight (plenty at Disneyland, with all the colored lighting). We waltzed through Fantasyland (we HAD to stop in to the brand new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, of course... might as well, right?), decided to stop off at the Tea Cups (for kicks), and after a quick excursion to see the new and "improved" Small World, we made our way through Tomorrowland for the requisite visit to Buzz Lightyear.

Carol set a new Kevin-Witnessed record of around 375,000, and while she was shooting neon-lighted shapes with a laser, I was shooting with my f/1.4.

And then it struck me: like really struck me. I was taking semi-coherent shots inside a darkride.

I'll let that sink in...

I was taking quality shots at 9pm.

This is crazy.

And I couldn't help but smile and enjoy the new range of possibilities.

Of course, none of them really came out, but OH the POSSIBILITIES.

Alright, here's what you need to know:

Buzz Lightyear costume

- Made completely by Augustine

- He bought a sewing machine for this

...and learned to sew in a matter of days

Woody costume

- Vest was sewn by Augustine

- The fabric for the vest is from Mood in NYC (of Project Runway fame)

- The rest of the outfit was from Goodwill. Including a legit cowboy hat (not pictured here) that I bought for $4 :o)

I found a stump to 'lean' on to reduce camera shake and this little dude was NOT leaving me alone...ahhh well!

Disneyland - Carol, Jess, Kaht, Mon, Sylv (June 16, 2007)

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is a video-game-inspired ride at Magic Kingdom theme park based on the exploits of Buzz Lightyear and the Evil Emperor Zurg from Disney·Pixar's film Toy Story 2.

Accept the role of a Junior Space Ranger, board XP-37 space cruisers and blast away at Evil Emperor Zurg's robot minions with laser cannons. Zurg is attempting to steal batteries from helpless toys to power a weapon of ultimate destruction, and Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear is tasked by Star Command to stop him. Now Buzz needs the help of Junior Space Rangers to thwart the Evil Emperor's dastardly plans.

Spin your space cruiser any direction you wish. Every time you hit a target, you're rewarded with fun sounds, special effects, and points are added to your total score. Players can compete with each other for the highest score or try to attain a new personal best. You are even assigned a Star Command rank, based on your performance. The lowest rank is the humble "Space Cadet," but advanced players can challenge themselves to reach the highest rank, "Galactic Hero."

The attraction mixes familiar video game elements with a neon-colored physical environment to create a dazzling new experience that will entertain both expert gamers and Guests who have always enjoyed classic Disney dark rides.

Sept 2004 ~ The buzz

Was inspired to buzz my hair off... I wasn't confident the desire would happen twice in a lifetime so went for it. A couple + years later, with hair, I'm saying my goodbyes to the red room and the built in single bed. End of an era. It's been an amazing journey.

This is what's REALLY going on...

--------------------------------------------

One of the drawings in vector loved doing that, perhaps the most difficult, but with one of the coolest characters from Toy Story.

The software used was Illustrator CS4.

Stands as tribute to Toy Story 3

Sorry for my bad english.
