I tried to get a nice photo of the dogs, but this is what I got.
The dog on the left's tail wagged so hard that it was a weapon. It made a thwaking noise when it hit something.
Behold, the world's smallest mountain range. The Sutter Buttes top off at only 10 miles in range from north to south, and east to west. Access to the buttes is extremely limited; the land here all belong to farmers, cattle and sheep ranchers. Since the year 1929, the Golden State had considered to purchase the land from the ranchers and farmers, and converting it into a California State Park and for protection. However, we may never know the truth faith of how this land's usage since it has been privately owned for many generations. Photo captured at the Sutter Buttes in Sutter County. Early July 2012.

Not the usual pictures from The Dallas Arboretum, but it was an unusual day! Nick got to come with me to the Arboretum and it really was with work but the event was canceled for a later date, but with Nick we got to chance the rain. We had a great day!! More pictures later.
A rather unfortunately named street in St Andrews, home to some of the university's buildings. I am told the "butts" refers to archery, and "wynd" is a word for a narrow lane.
To visit the Coyote Buttes South is to step into an otherworldly landscape of textures, shapes colours. A visual assault.
Only 20 people per day are issued permits for this location on the Paria Plateau in the Vemillion Cliffs National Monument.
We had some snow, some rain and a little bit of sun and blue sky. Sorry - not enough superalatives to describe what millions of geology have done.
We toured the area with our guide, Dallas, from Paria Outfitters - superb, attentive and seemed to be having as much fun as us!

As you make the ascent up Mt Tarrangower, you will find the Butts Reserve. It is a clear space to the right and left of the road, with amenities on the left and a stunning rock formation on the right. Also on the right, behind the stand of poplar trees, are the remains of the Maldon Brewery. The existing house was originally the manager's residence. This area features natural water springs that attracted breweries from as early as 1854. The remaining stone structure, now on private land, may date from the 1860s and was developed by Charles Bryant. By the early 1900s the Maldon Brewery was noted as the largest non-mining industry in Maldon.
The Butts Reserve site is site of the Annual Maldon Folk Festival, and the Hill Climb, during which acess to the Butts Reserve is limited
Free camping is also permitted here throughout the rest of the year. The annual Hill Climb is also held on the mountain. Beginning at the Reserve and continuing up and down the mountain, it is one of the oldest surviving Hill Climbs in Australia.
The views as you continue your ascent are clear and extensive. There are stopping points along the way which can provide a view all the way to the Grampians.
