For example, start your tour in Lamswaarden and then go to Graauw . Walk here over the Liniedijk , where you can find many tulip fields.
Drive or walk to Nieuw-Namen and then to Clinge .
In this triangle you will also encounter many beautiful tulip fields.
Also take a tour between Hulst, Koewacht and Absdale for even more tulip fields.
You can also find tulip fields in the other parts of Zeeland. You will find beautiful tulip fields around Aardenburg in the west of Zeeland Flanders , and in South Beveland there are also many tulip fields near Heinkenszand .
For example, walk on the Oudelandseweg , where you walk between the tulip fields on either side of the road.
South-Holland landscapes -
On the island of Goeree-Overflakkee you can enjoy the many, colorful tulip fields this week. Visitors come from far and wide to admire the Dutch flowers. Almost one in ten tulips sold in the Netherlands comes from the South Holland island.

In the second half of the sixteenth century, flower bulbs came in the attention of the wealthy and scientists in the Low Countries. The botanist Carolus Clusius plays a central role in the distribution of tulips in particular. However, he is not the only one who imports tulips into our regions. Clusius maintains contact with countless friends, and from the correspondence of some of them we can see that there was plenty of exchanges. Tulips were an essential part of that barter.
Zeeland -
But Zeeland is also beautiful, especially on Schouwen-Duiveland, the Bevelanden and on Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, more and more farmers switched to the cultivation of tulip bulbs. Where in the Kennemerland over the tenth of the bulb fields disappeared over the years, more and more were added in Zeeland.

The hyacinth has a long history as an ornamental plant . The species was originally cultivated in the Mediterranean, later in France. The Netherlands is now an important center of hyacinth cultivation.
More than two thousand cultivars have been developed. The colors vary: white, blue, yellow, pink, red and purple. The selection was also aimed at increasing the number of flowers per plant from 40 to 100 flowers per plant.
The hyacinth is often drawn into bloom on water in the living room. The hyacinth is also used as a cut flower.

A trailing suction hopper dredger from Luxembourg (!).
Wikipedia says : A trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) trails its suction pipe when working, and loads the dredge spoil into one or more hoppers in the vessel. When the hoppers are full, the TSHD sails to a disposal area and either dumps the material through doors in the hull or pumps the material out of the hoppers. Some dredges also self-offload using drag buckets and conveyors.

Tulipa is a genus of the Liliaceae (lily) family, once one of the largest family of monocots, but which molecular phylogenetics has shown to be a much smaller discrete family with only 15 genera. Within Liliaceae, Tulipa is placed within Lilioideae, one of three subfamilies, with two tribes. Tribe Lilieae includes seven other genera in addition to Tulipa.

When you think of tulips, you think of the Netherlands. However, these plants originally come from Central Asia. The Turks already cultivated these flower bulbs for the Dutch. When the first tulip bulbs were planted in the Netherlands at the end of the sixteenth century, it was not long before the tulip became famous. Professional growers saw a golden future for the plant and a lively flower bulb trade developed. The tulip was even seen as a good investment and this led to wild speculations, the so-called tulip wind trade or also called Tulip Mania.
I had a school trip about 1974. Think it was organised with a firm called PGL or something similar which specialised in taking school kids away. We went to Amsterdam by coach where we boarded This Barge you see above. For a week we lived and travelled on the barge and visited many places. Utrecht, Madurodam Model Village, Rotterdam, Schveningen, The Hague, The Tulip Bulbfields, Delft etc. I only had a very old box camera and only 12 shots on my roll of film. Only 4 pictures ever came out- of which this was one. I seem to remember this picture of the Barge was taken on the stop we had at The Hague? I also remember it seemed a very long walk into town so I didnt see very much or get a flavour of The Hague at all. The rest of the trip was outstanding. The barge was run by a couple who did all the cooking and steering the barge from day to day and place to place. We slept in Bunk beds of about 4 kids to a very small room on board and there were about 25 of us. My Mum had to save money for months to let me go on this trip. I thank her and Holland for making me so welcome and giving me the spirit of adventure and the fondness for travel I have today. I also spent ALL my Weeks spending money on a Dutch Diecast Bus - the story of which I have documented before here on Flickr. I still have the bus to this day and the great memories. If you can help me with the name of the Barge or indeed the history I wouild be grateful.
