The weather at Keukenhof was ghastly! Icy wind and the gardens were totally bare, except for a few lost crocus blooms here and there. Outside the park the bulbfields were also different shades of brown. So it was very disappointing.Luckily inside the hothouses there were some pretty flowers to see and to shoot. It wasn't always possible to make a good composition, because people walked in front of your camera.

We were assigned to a particular group in the Captain's Club, one deck down from my cabin, listened to the usual safety announcement, then showed our lifevests to the relevant crew member looking after us.

In view of the corona crisis tourist s were discouraged by the government to visit the bulbfields.
So an ideal situation for me because I live in Hillegom in the heart of the bulbfields.
This was the best and clearest I have ever experienced. When I returned to my cabin to collect my lifevest, I found the crew had already "checked" and found the cabin evacuated!

... with my stuff so far. A single cabin, with two beds! The second bed served as a repository for my clobber.
The tulip has come to be a loved symbol of the Netherlands. Many tourists visit the country just to see the bright coloured flower and the astonishing view over the bulb fields. The season begins in March with crocuses, followed by the daffodil and the yellow narcissi. In April the hyacinths and tulips blosssom to some time in mid May, depending on the weather. Later, in August it is time for the gladioli. Even when spring is over, the Netherlands is still a garden, visitors can enjoy flowers in the Netherlands all year round.
Diving would have been very painful... The pool stayed empty throughout, covered by a blue net. My swimsuit stayed unused... but of course, there was much else to do!
