Returning to Chicago on the eastbound Builder is a handful of horizons and amfleets from 'Snow Train' on the west coast, it's not very often you get to see Amtrak's single-level cars out here, especially on a 'warm' December day...

Oh well, they can't get everything right.

No words can express my joy when few hours ago I’ve been named LEGO Builder of the Year 2019 by The Brothers Brick, the world’s no. 1 source for LEGO news, reviews, and fan creations.

It’s an incredible goal to me. Thanks a bunch to The Brothers Brick Team for this special award and thanks to Rod Gillies (Senior Contributor) for the wonderful article and for the description of my MOCs.

There was no better way to end the year.

Thank you all!

A collage of 'The Builder' Giraffe No.13 by Artist Paulina Porebska. November, 2014 Christchurch New Zealand. I was doing collages for blipfoto and didn't think to put them up on Flicker but well from now on as they take so long to do!

Giant fibreglass Giraffe sculptures, reaching 2.5 metres high, are now standing tall on the streets, parks and public spaces of Christchurch and surrounding areas until 24 January 2015. At the end of the public art exhibition, in February, the Giraffes will be auctioned so we can all be part of raising money for local charities and turn the city’s Summer of fun into a helping hand for those who are in need.

Architect:

Built in: 1537

Builder: Gustav Vasa (Gustav I of Sweden, born Gustav Eriksson of the Vasa noble family and later known as Gustav Vasa, King of Sweden from 1523 until his death, 29 September 1560.)

“On the shores of Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland. Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537. Take time to wander slowly through the many rooms and winding passages. Gripsholm Castle is filled with over four-hundred years of history.

See the Swedish State's collection of portraits – featuring prominent Swedes from the days of Gustav Vasa to present day musician and composer Benny Andersson.

At Gripsholm you can take a royal stroll around the romantic castle grounds or meet the royal deer at the Hjorthagen nature reserve.”

Westbound Amtrak #7, the "Empire Builder" slows to a stop at Red Wing, MN depot on June 15th, 2021 with 2 locomotives and about 12 cars. Train arrived at 10:20 pm, late this day (due at 8:52 pm) due to signal issues somewhere between Lake Cities and Red Wing.

Titled after a song by Gong. "Master Builder", on their album "YOU" is a power-house piece of music like no other. Starting off with deep Tibetan style chanting and repeated mystic syllables, the song gradually and gradually builds up to a muscular, repeated figure leading to furious and dazzling displays of synth, guitar and saxophone.

"Master Builder" takes no prisoners. It makes no compromises and relays a spiritual power that is hair-raising and breathtaking. It's shocking, rocketing finish is like being propelled out of cannon into the vast, light filled sky of another universe. In this case, on the album, "Master Builder" leads to the complex wonder of "A Sprinkling of Clouds", one of the greatest pieces Gong ever created. The two songs are inextricably linked.

It is this moment, from the Zen-shock finish of "Master Builder" and the propulsion into "A Sprinkling of Clouds" that came to mind when this image was created.

"Master Builder

Tell me how you make a Temple.

Jewels and Moonstones

You don't really need them.

You know.

Master Builder,

Tell me what the Temple's

Made of.

Deep inside you,

You can make

An Invisible Temple

In your own Imagination

If you Will."

Norah takes her pre-construction stretching very seriously.

Well, it has been quite a year!

Some really fun times and really great people!

A few interesting things that happened this year...

1. I went to two LEGO conventions, BFAL and BFVA! Both were a total blast! I got to meet so many awesome builders and saw some incredible builds!

2. I competed in an IRON BUILDER, with my bro against two of the greatest builders in the LEGO universe. Congrats again Sean and Steph!

3. I entered a bunch of great contests and hosted one of my own.

4. I built over 100+ creations and minifigs throughout the year!

Less then last year, but still decent. ;)

5. This year, Steven and I were interviewed by LEGO Club TV, Beyond the Brick and Brickjournal magazine!

6. Most popular MOC this year: Orðlokarr Castle, followed closely by

Everard Lodge Revisited

7. I started the year with less then 700,000 views.

I've ended with 3,500,000+ !

:D Favorites, comments and views have jumped considerably. Despite the terrible new Flickr layouts.

#IronBuilderEffect

Thanks to everyone for the truly awesome year!

Here's to a great 2014!

Have a blessed day!

One of Gunnars best clients is the well-known boat builder Hanko Swift. He runs his business together with his three sons.

After many memorable adventures on their travels, Elmar and Adele von Rabenstein finally decide to return home. With some of the golden coins from their treasure heist they buy a brand new boat with a custom yellow painting from Hanko and say "goodbye for this time!"

This is perhaps one of the most iconic views of Rupit. This hanging bridge was constructed in 1945 to connect the two parts of the village divided by Rupit’s Creek. But nowadays, it has become a tourist attraction for visitors to this picturesque medieval town.

In 1945, the city council did not have many resources, so the bridge was partially financed by Pere Rovira, a local blacksmith that was also the designer. His brother Francesc Rovira (also a blacksmith), the local builder Santi Vila, and the local innkeeper Quim Marsal were also involved in the construction of the bridge.

Walking across this suspension bridge is always an experience. If you want to try it for yourself, it is not far from Barcelona and it is a great option for a day trip.

The town is truly beautiful, with old stone houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, and magnificent views. The zone if full of picturesque routes, making it a perfect spot for those who enjoys activities like trekking, cycling, horse riding, etc.

While the next round of Iron Builder rages on, I present a trophy to my victorious opponent Andrew, as per the tradition of the Iron Builder competition.

I hope there is space for this Brickarms Bionidoll trophy to stand proud on your shelf of wonders!

Cheers! : D
