Taken for 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Junk'.
Inside a drawer in the garage workshop I found two lengths of 'bobble' chain used to attach the plug to the bathtub - goodness knows why I thought the pieces might be useful. Looking at their quality neither is really worth keeping - junk!
This is one of the lengths placed on a mirror surface with colour coming from my old gift bag bought in the local convenience store.
And the lens used - junk, from a builder's skip!
A case of one man's junk is another man's treasure'

An integral part of peace-keeping on most of the colonies, the urban riot control walker was designed to swiftly quiet down any signs of unrest. Commonly known as Oxen, it is equipped with two twin-barrel granade launchers and an advanced monitoring system for facial recognition. Despite its bulky look, the rotating treads make it very maneuverable.
So this is my entry to the first responder category for space jam. Had a lot of fun designing this thing and took some inspiration from variuos awesome sci-fi builders out there (Oscar to name one). Hope you like it and make sure to check out the other entries in the Flickr group, there are plenty of good stuff there.
Finally a big thanks to the organizers of this annual (?) contest!
A nine-hour late Empire Builder makes for an unusual evening photo of the the train crossing the Mississippi River lift bridge at Hastings. A bit later and there would not be enough light left for this photo to happen. Fun to wait around in the energy of a late summer Friday evening.
In the cavernous hull, with its wooden ribs and stringers, the Bugis boat builders are at work. They are renown throughout Indonesia for their skills, building the Makassar schooners that trade between the islands. The Bugis don’t use blueprints, they construct the vessels by eye.

On a warm summer evening in August 2024 Amtrak Empire Builder 7 cuts through the expansive fields of Fall River Wisconsin with a brand new ALC-42 followed by a nearly 30 years old P42 leading the consist. At the time of posting this it is a brisk 5 degrees out which has me looking forward to days like this again.

My entry for LUGOLA's June Bronze Builder Challenge. The special element is the blue car fender element I used to frame the eye, top and bottom. It's a janky build. Lots of one stud connections and crazy SNOT going on.
After getting a red signal at Mayfair for cross traffic on the Harvard Sub, (Metra plus a UP local) Amtrak 7, the westbound 'Empire Builder' gets moving again, with ALC42 313 in the lead, and the Operation Lifesaver unit sandwiching a standard P42. In the distance, approaching Grayland, is Amtrak 337, a northbound Hiawatha Service run to Milwaukee.
Sketched directly in pen and ink on location at bike night. The builder of the bike (he owns the red one in the back), insisted I sketch this side as it has more interesting details... and it did. I had to sit close as it was a very crowded night, and my paper wasn't quite looooong enough.
Thanks to an eastbound vehicle train, I was able to obtain these shots of a very late Amtrak Empire Builder near Melonas siding at North Bonneville, Washington. Train 27 is racing the sunset to Portland.
Amtrak #7, the westbound Empire Builder rolls through Morton Grove IL. with a nice whistle salute and a nice looking leader.
Here is my custom LEGO Mario as he appears in the Super Mario Maker games. I think he's a unique addition to my collection! What do you guys think?? :p
Iron Builder model 6.
Antman is the closest approximation I can get with my parts. I wanted to use Bionicle/HF in one of my builds.

Running several hours late, Amtrak train 8, the eastbound 'Empire Builder', comes alongside a CP ethanol train moving in the same direction at 16th Street, Milwaukee.
Master Builders House was originally occupied by its builder, Alexander Morris, a Beaulieu builder who also managed the Beaulieu brickworks.
Shipbuilder John Darley was resident in 1747 and Master Shipbuilder Henry Adams lived there from 1749 to 1805. Henry's son Edward Adams followed from 1813 to 1849 and his widow remained in occupation until 1852. Henry Adams oversaw the building of over 50 ships for the Royal Navy, including Nelson’s favourite ship, the Agamemnon.
The building was constructed around 1729 and since 1925 it’s been a hotel, originally called the Shipbuilders House. Among the visitors to the hotel in the 1920s was Queen Mary who visited during Cowes Regatta week, and fittingly, during the Second World War the hotel was taken over by the Admiralty.

Amtrak's Empire Builder was running on BNSF's Aurora Subdivision due to trackwork on the traditional CP routing back in 2004. Back in the Burlington days, the Empire Builder would have been right at home rolling west through Chana, but Amtrak chose to run this train via Milwaukee upon startup in 1971.
An early morning, on time, Seattle section of the Empire Builder at Edmonds WA along Puget Sound.
At first I was disappointed that when I went to get this shot the train was on time and thus the light was about 30 degrees backlit, but as I look at it, it reminds me of the light you might see in an Edward Hopper painting. His works were an inspiration for me to get into photography 40 years ago and sometimes in my zeal to get a well lit train shot I forget to appreciate the art and beauty of photography. So I'm happier with it than I first thought.
