X I am no mathematician or builder all I can say is this bridge looks wonderful. I have enclosed some information on the design that I do not fully understand myself but some of you will no doubt
The Mathematical Bridge is the popular name of a wooden footbridge in the southwest of central Cambridge, United Kingdom. It bridges the River Cam about one hundred feet northwest of Silver Street Bridge and connects two parts of Queens' College. Its official name is simply the Wooden Bridge. It is a Grade II listed building.
The bridge was designed by William Etheridge, and built by James Essex in 1749. It has been rebuilt on two occasions, in 1866 and in 1905, but has kept the same overall design. Although it appears to be an arch, it is composed entirely of straight timbers built to an unusually sophisticated engineering design, hence the name.
The arrangement of timbers is a series of tangents that describe the arc of the bridge, with radial members to tie the tangents together and triangulate the structure, making it rigid and self-supporting. This type of structure, technically tangent and radial trussing, is an efficient structural use of timber, and was also used for the timber supporting arches (centring) used for building stone bridges. Analysis of the design shows that the tangent members are almost entirely under compression, while the radial timbers are almost entirely subject to tension with very little bending stress, or to put it another way, the tangent and radial elements elegantly express the forces involved in arched construction.
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.
The Empire Builder exits Saint Paul down an hour off the schedule. A pair of GE P42DCs make this train appear like an Empire Builder before the inception of the Siemens ALC-42s.
One of the newest Siemens ALC-42s leads the Empire Builder off the BNSF Midway Subdivision and onto Minnesota Commercial trackage at St. Anthony Junction.
Good! Just out for a walk with my son, enjoying a nice day, rather than being stuck in the basement building.
9th build in my Iron Builder round against Grant Davis, using the Vehicle, Spoiler 2 x 4 with Bar Handle in sand blue. The seed part was used 47 times, I think. Counting is still hard.

Eighth and final build in my Iron Builder round against Loïc, with the Technic rotation joint cylinder in med. azure as a seed part.
The seed part was used ten times... But can you spot any other seed parts from previous rounds?
Abraham Joseph Evans (1839-1912) was an architect and builder from Swansea, South Wales, who came to Bruce County in 1861. Evans built houses of distinction and built the home at 689 Princes Street for himself in approximately 1875.
This is one of the most authentic, well-kept examples of the Second Empire style of architecture in the Municipality of Kincardine. The ornate exterior features decorated gables in the roof, a belvedere, bay window and front portico as well as rows of dentils which highlight all three stories, and the ornate iron cresting work on the top of the tower. The dormers on the second floor are capped with an intricate triangular pediment while the
dormer on the tower features a carved curving pediment; this mix of pediment designs is typical of Second Empire buildings.
The brackets under the eaves are ornate console designs. The irregular roof line featuring the strong tower places this home directly in the Second Empire style. Notice the gently sloping Mansard roof, the mandatory Second Empire roof, has been re-shingled, however the original roof was no doubt dichromatic slate.
The Second Empire style of architecture (1 860 - 1900) is essentially a French style brought to Canada during the mid to late 19th century from Napoleon lll's Second Empire in France. Following the collapse of The First Empire in 1815, the monarchy was restored by Napoleon l's nephew, Napoleon lll, from 1852 1870.
Second Empire style is grand, lavish and complex. Easily identified by its roof line, the Second Empire roofs are typically dichromatic slate with intricate patterns. While the roof can be curved, squared, undulating, punctuated with
dormers or even gabled, it is always in the Mansard style: gently sloping at the top with a clean vertical drop at the edge. The Second Empire's relatively short period of success may be seen historically in many large public buildings of the time, though many have since been demolished.

The Empire Builder zips over Jamaica Avenue in Cottage Grove on the CPKC River Subdivision with help from the BNSF. I don't like when freight power is on Amtrak, but I was in the area for Borealis, so why not get a shot of the Empire Builder anyway? So far, 2025 has been nothing but equipment failures and problems for both the Borealis and Empire Builder. It is unfortunate and disappointing.
I only came across this site after watching a Youtube episode of Auto Shenanigans, but never got around to visiting the site, this was finally done in July last year.
Markfield Services is situated just off Junction 22 of the M1, this opened up as a Granada service station back in 1989.
Out of the three services that were available here, only the Travelodge operates in the present day, the main service building that held all the food/toilet facilities mysteriously closed without warning back in 2014 The petrol station did continue to keep going for another six years before closing for good in 2020.
Looking at the canopy underside, it is clear that this had been a Mobil filling station when it opened, this would have rebranded to BP once they acquired Mobil's assets in the late 1990's.
The abandoned petrol station is currently surrounded by builders fencing, as is the old services building which is starting to disappear to the the vegetation which is growing all around it.
The former children's play area has also become overgrown with only the top of a slide visible from the access road into the former services.
I did speak to the on site security guard, who at first didn't seem happy with me wandering around, despite fencing preventing me from going anywhere I shouldn't go but he did let me carry on wandering around getting my photos.
There are quite a few people who have taken videos at this site, all of which can be seen on Youtube, I'll add a couple in the comments below starting with Jon's episode of Auto Shenanigans.

A late running Empire Builder allowed us to get in position for this shot as No 8 approaches St Paul Union Depot, perhaps nicknamed SPUD? Not really sure but I did get a kick out of the initials.
Amtrak locomotives 313 and 14 cruise along the Mississippi River at Dakota, Minnesota with the Empire Builder and a backwards consist that was turned around at the wye in Grand Forks. The result was a train late by around three hours which made certain sun angles more possible. I intercepted the Empire Builder at Minnieska near John Latsch State Park and grabbed an additional photo in Winona. While there, I noticed the clouds cleared the further down river one got, so it was off to Dakota. Certainly glad I made the effort. Two other parties of railfans also were on-site further up beyond the overlook. No doubt they got great photos too.
Schiffsmodelle in Kirchen sind Schenkungen von Gilden oder Privatpersonen. Viele europäische Kirchen in Küstennähe besitzen solche Modelle.

A votive ship, sometimes called a church ship, is a ship model displayed in a church. As a rule, votive ships are constructed and given as gifts to the church by seamen and ship builders.[1] Votive ships are relatively common in churches in the Scandinavian countries Denmark,[2] Sweden, Norway[3] and Finland, as well as on Ã…land[4] and Faroe islands, but are known also to exist in Germany, the United Kingdom[5] and Spain.[2]
"No one is born as a looser. Remember! You are the winner there. :P"
Sorry guys, I’m late to the party. I had bad scheduling conflict with my daily work deadlines due to the late arrival of the mystery part by the post office service in my country.
It’s been months I haven’t got my hands to building and thanks to this competition that motivate and force me to build again :)
Though I’ll try my best in this competition, I don’t think I have time as much as my two previous IB competition to build, hope I don’t disappoint you guys :)
Thank you Guy for hosting the competition and I really hate you to put me up against Grant here!
Grant, always love and admire your build from the day I knew you when you collaborated with Eli on the cheese slope builds. Somehow I have a strong feeling I’m gonna loose here, don’t beat me up too hard my friend :P
So here is my first build in months and my first build for the competition, tomorrow I’ll post another and more will come for sure :)
My 1st build for Iron Builder vs. Grant Davis.
The part that we need to use the whole month is the Panel 4 x 4 x 13 Curved Tapered with Clip at Each End.

The Empire Builder sits in Minot while the morning sun begins to cast it's warm glow on the frozen landscape.
With the train arriving into town 1hr early, it gave me ample time to wander farther from the train than normal during the servicing stop (and for that fuel truck to leave).
My third build for the latest Iron Builder round against Inthert. The seed part is the Plate, Modified 2 x 3 with Bar in dark red.

Flooding on the Hiline resulted in catching the rerouted Empire Builder on the Helena Subdivision. The Track follows the Little Prickley Pear Creek through what is known as Wolf Creek Canyon and then the Missouri River up to Great Falls. The train is crossing the Dearborn River and is about to go under I-15's crossing of the Missouri River and the railroad.
Third build in my Iron Builder round against Loïc, with the Technic rotation joint cylinder in med. azure as a seed part.
The seed part was used twice!
