Thanks for all the set up help Eddie, the postman hasn't bought all my bits and pieces yet, so I set to with a wobbly c-clamp and cannibalised an empty milk carton for a diffuser.
Lets hope your birthday brings you lots of wonderful bugs.

Another new species for the tick list, Neanura muscorum, these are springless Springtails and Ne-an-ura means new-without-tail, a very common Collembola found all year round, this individual was found under a lump of burnt wood, they are fairly slow moving and about 2.5mm in length.

For some time I have been wanting to find and photograph Sitticus pubescens, a member of the Salticidae family. I have to say a big thankyou to fellow fickr friend Eddie The Bugman for pointing me to a good spot.
These guys were incredibly well camouflaged on their dark stone wall, and quite hard to approach.

Then I drove north west through some cattle country and stumbled across Munduberra, the citrus capital of Queensland.
There I met Dan the Bugman.
He breeds good bugs to feed on other bugs offering farmers a natural alternative to chemical pest control.

Globular springtail (Dicyrtomina species) - about 1.5mm, on the edge of a sycamore leaf. Canon MP-E 65mm (at 5:1) and then cropped some.

This Dragonfly is the first I have managed to photograph. She was absolutley beautifull, I believe it is a female Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum.
Many thanks to Eddie (a.k.a Wildlife On The Go The Bugman) who helped me correctly identify her as a female Black-tailed Skimmer ~ Orthetrum cancellatum.
She even transfered to my fingers for a while.

Jumping/Chainfruit Cholla flowers brimming over with bruchids - seed weevils (probably Mimosestes amicus that are emerging from mesquite seed pods). Thanks to Carl Olson, U of A Bugman for the ID.
