These bugs can squirt an irritating liquid a distance of a metre or so. The hole they squirt from is forward of the row of holes along their side and is above the second legs. See other picture for injury.

I was walking back to the apartment after checking the mail when I saw a glint of a lovely wing. Here lately I have been finding some beautiful deceased bugs and I thought that maybe I had found another to preserve and allow them to live on in death. But when I went to touch the wing, it moved. I thought "Oh no, not another lost to fire ants." But then it started to flutter. The poor thing was still alive! It had some how gotten old spider webs stuck to its wing. =[ I tried rescuing this little dragon fly, but I simply couldn't get enough of the spider's web off of it. I got enough of it off so that it could flutter away, but not enough so it could actually fly. I feel awful. =[ If I would have pulled that blob of web off of it, I would have caused even more damage. The poor thing was absolutely terrified. I am just glad that I found it when I did; it was just laying in the middle of one of the steps of the stairs. I didn't want anyone to step on it. I hope that it makes it through the day alright. This is exactly the best photo, but the lovely bit was fluttering its wings as fast as it could.
I am starting to feel a bit better after a minor break down yesterday. It tends to happen a lot when I am left alone in the apartment for days on end. But tomorrow Brian is finally off of work and will be home for the weekend. There is talk about possibly going up to Savannah with some friends; I really hope that we can go because I NEED to get out of this apartment for a day. We aren't doing very well financially right now and it is really stressing me out. Brian keeps saying that we will be fine and we always are, but I just can't help but stress. I am trying to stay positive like he always does. I told myself today, I would rather be broke and happy than broke and completely miserable. [summer '11]
This small Green Stink Bug was wandering all over a Canada Thistle this afternoon. I love seeing these. Actually, I saw all sorts of things on my walk today, starting off with a family of Ring-necked Pheasants running through the long grass. Also saw what must have been bear droppings - filled with berries!

My Tobaggan travel bug has finally returned home. Toboggan started 7/21/2005 and survived over 3 years 3 months on the road travelling from Geocache to geocache and stranger to stranger. I'm pleased to have him back. Received Nov. 1, 2008
I started him in Salt lake City, Utah, with a goal of Reaching Berlin, Germany before I did. He got here way late, but he did eventually reach me. For more details, you can look him up on geocaching.com :) - he's what's known as a travel bug!
