We started our fist ginger bug today that in a few weeks will lead to our first home made ginger beer. The bug starts with a cup of water, 2 tsp sugar and 2 tsp shredded ginger.
Taken by using the Canon 18-55 IS in & retro (without Retro Adapter!). 200 shots and this one survived!

Stink Bug Hell by Shane K Smith
Stink Bugs or Pentatomidae are infesting Winston-Salem and Lexington, NC farm area homes. They come every year around Halloween. They are hard to kill with Pesticides. I’ve tried foggers but they barely work. They fly sort of stupidly and crash but hide well under clothes, in clothes on window sills near light. They can swim and dive under water as I have tried to flush them. They come back out of the toilet hole after being flushed! They do the backstroke no joke! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmvojex1v-I
They leave a sweet nasty smell that keeps attracting more. If you catch them with a Kleenex then drop them in a torture device made from a two liter bottle you have your best luck. Wear surgical gloves or a Kleenex so the smell doesn’t get on your fingers. They don’t just fly in the bottle. You have to use the bottle sometimes to physically move them to fall through the hole. Just cut the top off of a 1 or 2 liter bottle then turn it upside down inside of itself. The bugs fall in the hole. I also use vacuum cleaners. What you do with them after that is your own choice. The Hindus will send me to hell for killing these bugs. Maybe I will see the stink bugs there! I have let my share of insects fly or crawl free. But I am not sharing my house with these imports! The traps we bough from the store are empty because they don’t work. Coming soon Stink Bug Hell the movie.

I don't know what kind of bug this is?
With a help from a friend, it's a Stegobium paniceum

Artist's Notes - "There are smiley faces and lots and lots of flowers. There is a really big ant! The little ones are just Army Beetles. I drew this because I wanted Mommy to have it on Mother's Day. I think this is a good picture."
It rains bugs when you drive through North Dakota on a summer night. The carnage on my license plate was the result of a three-hour drive from Fargo to Cando. My windshield became so covered with dead bugs that it was difficult to see and the car windshield washer did little good.
This is a little bug I found while crashing through the forrest looking for a backdrop shot for a project I am working on, by this point I had driven 150 miles, crawled through about 2 miles of forrest over grown with vines and weeds and spiders and snakes and all kinds of other schtuff.
But, the little bug here cheered me up.
Go bug man!
I even made up a song for him that I sung while crawling through the jungle.
Ha! But I ain't gonna sing it for you cause then I would feel silly.
Great little bug guy :)
On my latest Sunday stroll to Pennington Flash I was (perhaps sadly) delighted to find a ladybird, bee and a shield bug! Oh how you spoil me.
Yes, in a few months I'll probably be bored stiff of these as macro subjects but for someone who has been starved of "wild" macro action for months even the most common insects are a joy to behold.
Unfortuantely they didn't stick around and pose for long as I shoved by camera lens in their personal space, so I was also reminded of the more frustrating aspects of macro photography.

my 1957 bug. I took this photo from very far away and zoomed in, to reduce any distortion. This is done so people can use these images to use as reference when building the car in 3d.
